INDIE-ALT FOLK SINGER-SONGWRITER ‘SARAH BUCKLEY’ FROM CORK,IRELAND IS READY TO TAKE HER MUSIC ACROSS THE WORLD AND WITH THE RELEASE OF NEW SINGLE ‘PUPPET SHOW’ WE GET TO CHAT THE MEANING, MAKING AND MORE

What is your name?
Sarah Buckley

What is your genre of music?
Alt-Folk, Indie- folk

Give us a little bio about you.
I’m from Cork, Ireland. I started playing music as an adult and released my first EP Magic Powers earlier this year in Feb 2023… I mostly write on my acoustic guitar.

What made you go into music?
I felt like a creative person without a creative outlet, so I went looking for one. I tried poems but couldn’t get the hang of them and painting, but I wasn’t good at that. When I found music, I felt at home.

Who are your influences?
Leonard Cohen, Alex Turner, The National

Are you a signed?
 no I’m not.

You released your new single ‘Puppet Show’, tell us more about the single and the meaning behind the song.
The song is about misplaced trust and a relationship gone wrong. It talks about the fact that you were in such a vulnerable place at the time anyway you probably never stood a chance at making it work.

What was the writing and recording process like?
Uncharacteristically it was really quick, I was going into the studio the next day and wrote it the day before. I always spent a lot of time with songs, so I consciously wanted to try work in different way and see how it felt  in a quick day of inspiration. I think it worked out, but I have reverted to my old way of taking more time as I think that feels better for me.

Who did you work with on the single?
The producer on the track was Darragh Nolan and I had two musicians on it from Wexford, brothers Lorcan and Cillian Byrne.

Will we see a music video for ‘Puppet Show’, and if so, what can we expect from the creative process?
I made a visualiser to go with it using phone videos and an AI creative suite. I call those little projects visualisers as they are zero budget DIY so feel more low key than a full music video.

Will we see an EP or album and if so, what can we expect from it?
Yes, I released my first EP Magic Powers in Feb this year and my second one is a three track EP called Wind Chimes, it will be out in Oct.

Do you have any live shows coming up?
I finished a string of Irish and German shows, so I am currently writing new material before booking in anymore.

What else can we expect in late 2023?
Wind chimes will be out October 20th.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
Still song writing

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
Every day may not be good but there’s something good in every day.

Do you have social media accounts so your fans can follow you?
Yes, I’m Sarah Buckley Music across different platforms
