What are your names?
Harry Gallacher, Michael MacGee, Marc Sermanni, Matthew Kennedy

What is the bands name?
The Lines

How did vou come vo with the bands name?
The bands name came as the result of the process of elimination. From a day spent playing guitar and discussing about a hundred names, this is the one that stuck.

What is your genre of music?
Alt/Indie Rock

Give us a little bio about you.
Unapologetically Scottish and aggressively energetic, The Lines are a post-Brexit, alt rock sensation who write music for those who feel stuck, who don’t, nor want to improve themselves and teeter on the edge of crazy. With their passion, drive, melodic chords, and energetic distortion, they promise to pull any fan to the front of the barrier!

What made you go into music?
We all became involved in music in our own ways but a common theme amongst all of us is its involvement in our lives for a long time. Some of which being direct links with music and family, others being finding it themselves. Despite music coming into our lives in different ways, shapes, and forms, we are connected by our love and drive for it.

Who are vour influences?
Something that drives our music is the broad range of artists who we enjoy taking influence from. Each member takes influence from their own tastes – ranging from modern rock like Nothing But Thieves and Biffy Clyro, to hip hop/RnB artists like Kendrick Lamar and Silk Sonic.

Are you a signed?
We are not signed by any labels currently, but we have recently started working with new management (Reaction Management) and are excited for our future with them.

You released your new single Heart soup, tell us more about the single and the meaning behind the song.
Heart Soup is two and a half minutes dedicated to not taking yourself too seriously. It’s easy to get pulled along by the waves of conformity and this song aims to provide an anthem to those swimming against the current.  Or as Marc likes to say “you know that guy at a wedding who won’t dance cause he thinks he’s too cool but really everyone just thinks he’s daft”

Describe the track in two words.
“Gorgeous” and “Heartbreaking”

What was the writing and recording process like?
Like most of our songs, it started off with Harry coming up with an idea. Taking inspiration from Harry Styles’ latest album at the time, he wrote “Heart soup”. Typically, once he brought it to the rest of the band, the song changed completely as each member added a flavour of their own style and influence into the process, turning it into the anthem it is today.

Who did you work with on the single?
We worked with the incredibly friendly and talented Roderick MacIlwraith of Roddymacaudio, who recorded, mixed and mastered our tracks.

Will we see a music video for ‘Heart Soup’ and if so tell us what we can expect from the creative process and inspiration behind it?
The Music Video for Heart Soup comes out on the same day as the single! The video is a compilation of our gig down in Manchester. The video is recorded using an older digital camera and we are really proud of how it has come out.

Will we see an EP or Album and it so, what can we expect from the creative process.
So far we are more focussed on working on the songs to our best ability, so although it is a possibility, it’s more likely that we release more singles that we can focus our attention on.

Do you have any live shows coming up?
We have plenty, we can next be found at the flying duck on 23rd September, our Instagram features regular updates of gigs to come.

Let us know where we can get tickets if so.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
