What is the bands name?
How did you come up with the bands name?
We struggled with a name for ages, in the end we ended up writing a lot of words we liked on a page and those two just came together.
What is your genre of music?
Alternative Rock I suppose, although I don’t really know what qualifies something as alternative rock
Give us a little bio about you.
90’s inspired fast paced alternative Rock.N.Roll from Belfast Northern Ireland.
What made you go into music?
Started playing in band back in school in a friends house at the weekend and just fell in love with the whole premise, just never stopped since then and here we are.
Who are your influences?
We all have quite different influences, but the biggest overlapping inspirations are probably Foo Fighters and Pixies.
Are you a signed?
We are not but we are open to offers
You release your new single ‘Happy Birthday’, tell us more about the single and the meaning behind the song.
Its a song about getting older, sitting there on the day with a birthday cake thinking about how anther year of your life is over, a happy little track about existential dread.
Describe the track in two words.
What was the writing and recording process like?
It was one of those songs that took 5 minutes to write, it kind of just happened, recording it was super easy too, we were all on the same page and it jus came together.
Who did you work with on the single?
We did it all ourselves, just like the rest of our album, allowed us to take our time and really experiment with ideas.
Will we see a music video for ‘Happy birthday’, and if so, what can we expect from the creative process?
There will be a video at some point next year, we enjoy making really chaotic interesting videos so expect something you won’t expect at all.
You are also set to release a new album, tell us more about the creative process, making and what the meaning of the album is.
The album is the story of the last few years of my (Michael) life, each song is inspired by my own experience or through the experiences of others around me. It was super fun to make, we have a good bit of experience recording so we decided to record it on our own, most of it was done over the course of a week in my house. It was such a blast to record and is definitely something I’ll remember for a long time.
Describe each track inn two words.
Do you have any live shows coming up?
Our biggest upcoming show is our album launch in Belfast’s Oh yeah Centre, its probably the biggest show of our career.Available via offaxis.com https://offaxisgigs.com/product/foreign-mornings-4am/
What else can we expect in late 2023?
We’ve got a few more shows lined up all over the UK, maybe a music video.
Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
Last year our most exciting moment was playing a 100 capacity headline show, this year we’ve toured all over the UK and played major festivals. To continue on that trajectory is unlikely but I hope we do, in which case who can say, but one way or another we’ll still be playing.
What quote or saying do you always stick by?
Just do it, life is scary but we only are where we are by diving headfirst into everything and seeing what happens.
When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
The songs we’re about to play, something to drink, what city you’re in, always got to charge wireless guitar jacks, made that mistake the other week and It was a real pain. Instruments too I guess.
Do you have social media accounts so your fans can follow you?
We’re on all of them, we’re the only Foreign Mornings in existence so look it up and you’ll find us. All links here
