What is your name?
I’m Becky Crosby!

What is your genre of music?
I would consider my music to be pop/funk with jazz and rock influences

Give us a little bio about you.
I am a 23 year pop/funk artist from Montclair, NJ. I am backed by an amazing group of musicians and together we perform throughout the tri-state area. I draw inspiration from my background in jazz, classical and contemporary music and bring it into my songs to create an eclectic blend of genres. I recently completed my studies in jazz at Purchase College and now I wholeheartedly dedicate myself to my music career.

What made you go into music?
Music has always been such a huge part of my life and when I was in 5th grade I just decided it was the path for me. Ever since then, I have been performing and songwriting as much as possible.

Who are your influences?
I am influenced by Silk Sonic, Paramore, The 1975, Miley Cyrus and P!nk

Are you a signed artist?
No, I’m currently an independent artist.

You just released your new single “Love Like Medicine.” Tell us more about the single and the meaning behind the song.
When I first started writing, ”Love Like Medicine”, it started off as more of an upbeat love song. It wasn’t too long before I changed it to have a bit of a darker undertone. The verses go into detail about the anxieties of everyday life while, the choruses harp on the fact that sometimes there’s only one person or thing that can make you feel better.

Describe the track in two words.
Uniquely pop

What was the writing and recording process like?
The writing process took multiple months and I kept changing little things here and there. I have a lot of demos from my spring semester of my senior year that all sound just a little different from each other. Finally by May 2022, I was done writing “Love Like Medicine” and performed it publicly for the first time at my senior recital for college. In September of 2022, I started recording the track with my awesome band in the studios at Purchase college. We took our time with it and recorded every piece and instrument individually. Overall, the writing and recording process took a bit and I’m so happy it did because I love how the song turned out!

Who did you work with on the single?
This track was mastered by Emerson Mancini of Demifugue Mastering, mixed by Craig J. Smith and engineered by Jon Awad. It was performed/recorded by Anthony Dom on guitar, Julia Klot on keys, Jon Awad on drums, Anthony Sabino on bass, Noah Mattison on trumpet, Marty Scott on trombone and Hunter Pullen on saxophone.

Will we see a music video for “Love Like Medicine” and, if so, what can we expect from the creative process?
Yes! I actually have an official music video currently up on YouTube and Vevo. It was so much fun to make and my whole band is in it with me. It was filmed, directed and edited by my friend Jake Feldman and he did an amazing job.  Watch the video here
