What is your name?
Joey Collins
What is your genre of music?
Alternative Rock / Singer-songwriter
Give us a little bio about you:
I’m an independent singer-songwriter and producer from Nottingham who writes introspective music from the heart.
What made you go into music?
I got into music from an early age. I always found listening to music resonated with me so much more than anything else in life. Then eventually creating music gave me even more of a fondness and love for the craft.
Who are your influences?
Jeff Buckley, Brandon Boyd, John Frusciante, Richard Ashcroft and many more…
Are you signed?
No, I release my music under my own label Dead Cell Records.
You released your new album ‘Yin-Yang’, tell us more about the single and the meaning behind the album.
Well I’ve released a number of singles taken from the album which have had a great reception so far. The album is my life in its most vulnerable state, it’s pretty much the past ten years of songwriting into a collective piece.
Who did you work with on the album?
It’s been a bit of a mixture of collaborators. Dave Fry – mixed a few songs and mastered the whole album. Guy Elderfield mixed the opening two songs. Charlie Kirby mixed the final song on the album. I mixed a few songs myself too.
Will we see a music video for any of the tracks on the album and if so what can we expect from the creative process like?
Probably not in honesty. I do plan on releasing some live session videos though if some of the songs.
What else can we expect in early 2023?
Promoting this album cycle for the rest of the year!
Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
Hopefully playing in Europe and beyond!
