What is your names?
I am Minerva Daisy
What is your genre of music?
My music had been described as genre fusion, it’s a little bit of everything! But to condense it down it goes nicely into indie-pop, indie-rock & pop-rock!
Give us a little bio about you.
“Minerva Daisy is a young, powerful and queer indie pop songstress based in Manchester, UK. Influenced by powerful female musicians like Etta James, Nina Simone & Florence and the machine, Minerva is giving indie music a whole new delicious flavour, with hints of rock, pop, soul and jazz, you’ll find yourself coming back for seconds in no time.”
What made you go into music?
I was brought up around music, my dad is a singer songwriter & my mum is super creative & so in that sense I was very lucky and creative as a child. I always loved performing from a young age, I used to perform in-front of my grand-parents friends whenever we went out together & so I think I fell in love with music naturally & started doing it professionally from 16.
Who are your influences?
I’m inspired by so many different artists! Some main ones I would have to say are Etta James, Nina Simone, Bahamas, Muse, Nirvana, Portishead & Lily Allen
Are you a signed?
No, not yet but I’m dipping my toe in the water and searching at the moment
You are set to release your new single ‘Something Strange’, tell us more about the single.
The single is due to come out on February 16th! It’s my biggest release yet and so much work has gone into it. It was written about an hour after I found out that an ex partner had cheated on me so it’s full of emotion and grit.
Describe the track in two words.
Powerful & Punchy
Who did you work with on the single?
The single was recorded in Manchester at Mad Fox studios and produced by Tayte Nickols & then mastered by the rookery!
My band were a huge part of making this come to life, Tom Hetzel on bass, Harry Smith on guitar & Kay Rogerson on drums!
What was the writing and recording process like?
I wrote the song within the space of an hour a little while back & so I remember that being very emotional, my hands wouldn’t stop shaking because I was so angry at the situation but then I blurted this song out and it felt like all the anger left me.
The recording process was fun, it was recorded over the span on 2 days in the studio & we got to play around with some synths & effects on all the instruments, my band & the producer are all talented and have a knack for making my tracks come to life.
Will we see a music video for the track?
Yes! It’s currently being edited by cinframeproductions as we speak! It will be my first ever music video to be released so I’m nervous but excited
Will we see an EP or Album and if so, what can we expect from it?
I hope so! It won’t be for a little while yet but definitely within the next few years, but I do have lots of new singles lined up!
Do you have any live shows coming up and if so, where will you be heading?
Yes! We have a headline at Off The Square in Manchester on 18th February for Elephunk in the room & then we have a single launch for this track on
What else can we expect in 2022?
Music, music & more music! And hopefully lots more live shows
Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
It’s difficult to say because the past 2 years have been so unpredictable but I’d like to see myself on a tour bus surrounded by my lovely band on our way to a sold out concert after releasing our debut album 🙂
