What is your name?
Feralman

What is your genre of music?
Cinematic alternative/indie-folk

Give us a little bio about you.
Welsh/Australian indie musician. Artist, author and all-round creative thinker. I like sharing stories and ideas, whatever the format. The bigger the idea and concept, the better. I’m influenced by the natural, emotional, and spiritual world. I’m really big into the concept self-positivity, I think the world can only benefit if more people think more highly of themselves.

What made you go into music?
To be honest it’s a kind of accident. I hadn’t planned on putting any of my stuff ‘out there’. I just found one day that I had so much material and I was losing and forgetting so much by never documenting it, so I started to record it…one thing led to another from there.

Who are your influences?
SO many! Roger Waters, Neil Young, Paul Simon, Mark Knopfler, Xavier Rudd, Arcade Fire, Sigur Ros, Fleet Foxes, Bears Den, Nick Drake, Ben Howard.

Are you signed?
I’m independent

You released your new single ‘Believe’, tell us more about the single.
It is a song about not listening to either your own voices or the voices of others, that tell you that you can’t achieve the things you want to or dream of. It is told as the metaphor of a person sailing off across the ocean in search of adventure, on a homemade raft.

What was the writing and recording process like?
I’m always writing stuff and come up with the basics of a song almost every time a sit down with a guitar. I keep one in several rooms of my house so there is always one to hand. I record most parts from my home studio. This has obviously been necessary during most of the last couple of years. As has drafting in expertise of people who can help me do so. David Picarra is an awesome session guitarist who helps me record some parts. Rochelle Feldkamp is a Nashville based folk singer and she lends her backing vocals to the songs. Everything is then put together and mixed/mastered by the irreplaceable Sefi Carmel. He is a huge addition to the team and has worked with some absolute legends, Bowie, Bruno Mars, Phil Collins, Massive Attack and worked on film scores with A list director like Ridley Scott, Chris Columbus and John Woo.

Describe the track in two words.
Self-belief

Will we see a Music video for ‘Believe’, what can we expect from the creative process?
Yep there is a video out now on the YouTube channel. This one was filmed by Vatman and features some footage from previous videos of mine which were filmed by Wolfget Media and antelope Media. It takes both a creative and literal perspective on the meaning of the song. Check it out, it’s pretty cool.

Will we see an EP or Album and if so, can you give us a teaser of what to expect?
Yes, the album (“Allegories”, which means a collection of metaphors) will be out later this year. It has a fairly grand sound I’d suggest. A lot of cinematic elements with some big string sections and some drama. Most songs are metaphors about believing in yourself, about positive thinking, about achieving and being all you can be in life.

Do you have any live shows or a tour coming up and if so let us know where we can catch you at?
Yes, we’ve got several gigs being finalised for the spring (details to follow) and I’m hoping to land a couple of festival slots in the summer

What else can we expect in 2022?
Following “Believe” there will be another 2 singles and then the album, later in the year. I’m currently working on an almost full-length follow-up EP, which is a kind of concept EP in the vain of “Shine on You Cray Diamond” by Pink Floyd. It is essentially one 30 minute song broken down into 4 parts…not sure how I’ll release it yet…or when

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
Main stage at Glasto?!

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams” – Eleonor Roosevelt

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
Extra strings, spare guitars, spare leads/cables, lyric sheets, extension cables

Do you have social media accounts so your fans can follow you?
Yes all can be found here: https://linktr.ee/Feralman
