POP- SINGER/SONGWRITER ‘SYDNEY LAUREN’ CHATS WITH US ALL ABOUT HOW MUSIC CAME INTO HER LIFE, INFLUENCES AND THE BRAND NEW RELEASE ‘MAYBE’! GIVE IT A READ RIGHT HERE!

What is your names?
Sydney Lauren

What is your genre of music?
Always a hard question for me! I’d say it’s pop / singer-songwriter. Depending on who is listening you can heart a touch of country

Give us a little bio about you.
When I was younger I was incredibly shy. If you knew me then, you’d be shocked to see me singing and song writing. When I was 15 I begged my parents for piano lessons and an acoustic guitar so for my 8th grade graduation I proved I would commit to the craft and they got me a starter guitar! I loved to accompany myself and play the music behind what I was singing. When I was in high school, I developed a polyp on my vocal cords which stopped me from singing for three months. In that time, I really got to work on song writing and hone in on the craft. A few years down the line, I attended Berklee College of Music, released music along the way, and upon graduating moved back home to New York. I’ve had a couple songs on some TV shows and continued to write and release music and here I am today!

What made you go into music?
I always say my love for music pushed me out of my quiet shell. There was always something that I was drawn to and once I had the tools to start creating, I never stopped. I cant say it was one specific thing, maybe a specific feeling.

Who are your influences?
I have so many! I love James Taylor and Carole King. I also love Ruston Kelly, JP Saxe, Sara Bareilles. And of course I love
my super pop like Lennon Stella, Charlotte Lawrence, etc.

Are you a signed?
I am not!

Your new single ‘Maybe’ is out now, tell us more about the single.
“Maybe” is about feeling secure in your relationship. You can search for the person that ticks off all the “on paper”
characteristics but most of the time it’s more than that. It’s a song that makes a more serious conversation a little playful.

Who did you work with on the single?
I’ve been working with my friend Jake Ohlbaum on my past couple projects and it’s been such a fulfilling experience. Jake is a friend from college and he really understands my sound and my writing. It’s always a fun time when we get to work together and this project was recorded all over zoom!

Describe the track in two words.
Playful. Fun.

Will we see an EP or Album and if so, what can we expect from it?
Yes! There is an EP to follow the release of “Maybe”. I can’t share a date just yet but it will be very soon!

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
I hope to be continuing to write, record, and release music!

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
“It’s a marathon, not a sprint.” Things take time and you don’t have to get everything done all at once. Hard work and
patience will help you get there.

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
Water, my guitar, extra batteries in case the guitar dies, a friend for moral support, mp3 of my vocal warm ups!
