RETRO-POP SINGER-SONGWRITER ‘GRACIE NASH’ RELEASES THEIR BRAND NEW EP ‘POWER LADY’ AND ITS POWERFUL! COME CHECK OUT OUR CHAT ALL ABOUT IT RIGHT HERE!

What is your name?
Gracie Nash!

What is your genre of music?
Retro-Pop 🙂

Give us a little bio about you.
I’m a singer/songwriter living in NYC! I started songwriting at age 11 and haven’t stopped. Since I grew up with Classic Rock radio as my life’s soundtrack, my musical style is highly influenced by the music of the 60’s and 70’s. When I’m not singing & writing songs I am a music teacher!

What made you go into music?
Believe it or not, I’ve been writing songs since I was 11! It’s always been my greatest passion & I love the musical community.

Who are your influences?
The Beatles, ELO, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel, Paul Simon…the list goes on! More recently I’ve been super inspired by Emily King.

Are you signed?
Nope! Independent lady here.

You released your new EP ‘Power Lady’ is out , tell us more about the EP.
I wrote these songs while I was in the process of falling out of love with someone else and falling in love with myself. The EP has 6 songs that push the boundaries of my musical sound & writing style.

What is the meaning behind the EP?
Power Lady is for everyone who is going on a self-love journey. I hope that these songs can help heal my listeners the same way the songs helped heal me.

What was the writing and recording process like?
The writing process was amazing because the songs practically flowed out of me. Sometimes writing a song can be a long puzzle-like process, but with these tunes they just felt so natural. The recording process was a blast! I was lucky enough to get my dream band into the studio

Describe each track in two words.
Lovestruck – Caffeinated Lust
Sippy Cup – Country Revenge
Summer Release – Southern Fling
The One I’m Dreaming Of – Modern Romance
Better Off –  Feminine Empowerment
The Belly Song – Body Celebration

Who did you work with on the EP?
My best friend & collaborator, Charlie Rosen, produced the EP. We brought in a string quartet, harp, rhythm section, horn section, banjo player, and backup singers! It’s basically my sonic dream come true. One of my favourite people, Dylan McKinstry, mixed the EP to perfection. The masterful mastering was done by Alan Silverman.

Will we see any music videos for any of the songs?
There are already some music videos for 3 of the songs! Check out the Better Off, The Belly Song, and Sippy Cup music videos.

What else can we expect in Early 2021?
I have a few more singles up my sleeve for 2021 😉

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?

Oh gosh! It’s hard to say where I see myself in 5 minutes. I see myself still writing songs & playing shows. I’d love to continue working in the education & children’s entertainment space while pursuing my career as a singer/songwriter!

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
I always try to remember this quote by Aretha Franklin: “Be your own artist, and always be confident in what you’re doing. If you’re not going to be confident, you might as well not be doing it.”

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
Practice, amazing outfit, extra guitar picks, thank the band/venue, and have fun!

Do you have social media accounts so your fans can follow you?
I do! You can find me on instagram and facebook
