THE RETURN OF VICTORY BROOKS IS HERE, WITH THE RELEASE OF HER NEW SONG ‘BLIND TO LOVE’ I GOT A CHANCE TO HAVE A CHAT WITH HER. GIVE IT A READ BELOW!

No description available.

What is your name?
Victory Brooks here, let’s party!

What is your genre of music?
My music is pretty much pop. Some refer to it as dark pop which I don’t mind!

Give us a little bio about you.
Singer, songwriter, heartbreaker. Originally I was discovered as a rock guitarist, but then I found myself in song writing and developed into what I am today. In 2018 I travelled over 6000 miles from Moscow Russia (my hometown) to LA to pursue my career in music! Currently I have two singles out.. and a music video too

What made you go into music?
I have always been creative in different ways. Later on, I heard an album by Ac/Dc and that changed everything for me. That’s when I knew what I wanted to do. I was in the rock world for a while, but then I fell in love with pop music of every shape and form! I’m still fascinated with how little limits pop music has to it.

Are you a signed?
I am an independent musician. All of my projects are funded by me. Being unsigned is tricky, it basically means that I have to rely on myself and my own decisions entirely. Luckily I have an amazing team that helps me to turn my vision into reality!

You have released your new single ‘Blind To Love’, tell us more about the single.
‘Blind to Love’ is for anyone out there who doesn’t need the other half to be whole! It’s an empowering song spiced up with punchy 808s and catchy hooks. For that one I teamed up with a Russian superstar engineering duo ‘Creamy’, whose works appeared on the ‘Apple Music Top 10 : Russia’ chart multiple times this year. It was such an amazing experience to work with them!

What is the meaning behind the single?
I wrote that song when I just recovered after a heartbreak and decided to focus on myself entirely. Just me, myself and I. ‘Blind to Love’ is about rejecting love after endless mind games involved in the past. I thought ‘If that’s what love is.. I don’t want it’

Describe the track in two words.
Volume up!

What was the writing process like?
‘Blind to Love’ was co-written by my long time collaborator Drew Louis! We got into the session, talked about life, played a few chords… a few hours later the song was created. Then we both couldn’t stop listening to the demo for days because it’s catchy AF! I challenge you to listen to ‘Blind to Love’ without singing back.. the challenge is real!

What was the recording process like?
Just as I mentioned earlier, I teamed up with the ‘Creamy’ duo, who are known for being hitmakers in Russia. I was surprised how humble and nice they were. At that time the dudes had 4 of their works back to back on top charts in Eastern Europe.. and they still asked me if I needed hot tea like 5 times!

Will we see an EP or Album and if so, what can we expect?
Currently I’m planning to release more singles! That way I get to be more creative and free. Every single is a story, a phase. I see an album as a complete concept which I want to take time with.

Do you have any online shows coming up?
Not that I’m aware of! Unless I get really drunk and smash that ‘Live’ button on Instagram..

What else can we expect in 2020?
I have a lyric video coming up, to be followed by another single!

Do you have any collaborations coming up with any upcoming artists?
Tell Iann Dior to shoot me a DM!

Would you be up for collaborations if other musicians wanted one with you? and who would they have to contact?
Absolutely! The concept needs to be solid though. I get a lot of DMs from artists who want to collaborate, but don’t have an idea of what they want and when. That doesn’t go anywhere. However, if you have a something in mind, let me know : pr@victorybrooks.com

Do you play any instruments?
Yes! Guitar and piano.

Who are your influences?
I’m heavily influenced by Madonna, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson and KISS. They illustrate the concept of being an image driven artist. To me, being an artist means being out of this world. Being someone people don’t see in their neighbourhood.

How do you get inspiration to write songs?
I live life. Life is the biggest inspiration itself. I speak my truth in music. I talk about what I get to experience.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
Coming back home after a stadium show to 10 platinum plaques and the love of my life.

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
I make goofy TikToks! My mom is aware that she raised a tiktoker.. sorry mom!

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
‘Don’t be waiting for the perfect moment to do something. It never comes’
And the second best one – ‘Get on it now, figure it out later’

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?
Protect your vision at all costs.

Where in your hometown is a must go to visit?
Take a long walk downtown. Moscow is for walking and observing!

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
1) My makeup fixing spray! Otherwise my face would melt away under the stage lights.
2) Extra guitar picks. Even if I’m not playing guitar, you never know who needs them!
3) Roller bandage. When performing, I don’t have any sense of safety for myself. I’m clumsy, too!
4) My earphones. I always need to meditate and listen to something before a gig.
5) A second pair of shoes! When on stage, I always wear huge platforms or heels. I’m 5’2, so anything that helps me to be more visible works! Now I’m wise enough to take flat shoes for after the show! Don’t repeat my mistakes y’all, have your flat shoes!
