INTRODUCING HIP-HOP ARTIST Z.SMITH AND HIS LATEST RECORD ‘SCORCHED’ AND I GOT A CHANCE TO HAVE A CHAT WITH HIM WHAT IT WAS ALL ABOUT!

What is your name?
Z.SMITH, but everyone just calls me Zach.

What is your genre of music?
Hip-Hop

You released your new album ‘Scorched’, tell us more about the album.
Scorched is an album that took about a year and a half to create, and it’s the most personal thing I’ve ever put my energy and effort into. It’s a concept album that tells a story from front to back and each track goes a little deeper into my outlook and perspective. I really had to let go of worrying how my feelings on certain topics could have repercussions and just go for it. For example, the message behind Hades is all about how far would you go to live the life you really want? That life that other people dream of.  Like, could you cut off everything you know and go for it? Could you cut off your girl, go after her best friend and show no remorse? As someone who was in a very serious relationship at the time, it was difficult to not only write that but record it and then play it out loud. But these were honest feelings I had to chase and Scorched is the end product of that mentality.  fff

Describe each track in two words.
Hades:  Border-Line Arrogance
Black Pen: Enlightened Reflection
Premonition: Wishful Thinking
Press Play: First Steps
Cut the Lights!: Relatable Anarchy
i SEE ghosts: Too Personal
Manson. Dahmer. Bundy. : Self Awareness
Am I Crazy?: Deranged Intuition
Scorched: Self Realization
Split: Cross Roads
Pretty Boy Floy: Kairos
Charlie Hustle: New Beginnings

Will we see a music video for any of the tracks?
So right now we currently have music videos out for “Premonition” and “Am I Crazy?” but there’s a few others that I think need a visual. “Press Play” and “Charlie Hustle” are at the top of my list. You can view those videos we already have out via my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFeum1GPS33JXrxrAT71xXQ

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
Most of the time just hanging with friends and creating memories that will later go right back into the music. I also like to do a lot of video editing and get creative with different ways to draw in new audiences.

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
Don’t settle. Go after what you really want, no matter how outlandish it may seem

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
You try to do the best with what you’ve got and ignore everything else. That’s why horses get blinders in horse racing: You look at the horse next to you, and you lose a step.

Jimmy Iovine

Where in your hometown is a must go to visit?
Definitely the Ludlow Skyline Chili (after my mom’s place of course).
