Hi Elizza – tell us a short bio about yourself and your music and what made you go in to music?
Hi there, I’ve always been passionate about music and I can still remember myself writing melodies and lyric lines since I was a kid.
Music is my expression.
There are certain things I cannot say out loud but music helps me articulate what I feel.
Are you signed of independent?
I’m independent at this stage in my career. Would certainly consider the right opportunity.
Your brand new single ‘Sins’ is out now – tell us about the single.
Imagine you are in love with someone and there is no boundary to what you would do or not do with them. Nothing is a sin anymore.
What were the recording and writing processes like?
Yes, I did write the song. It had to do a lot with my state of mind and some of my experiences. A special mention for Mafro, the producer of the song, who brought a lot to the table.
Describe the track in two words.
Passion galore.
Will we see an EP or Album soon?
There is a very strong possibility, it all depends on my journey this year.
When can fans next see you perform live?
Stop by at Mahiki on Wednesday nights. Next performance in Mayfair on 27th March, 2019.
What else can we expect from Elizza in 2019?
2019 is all about pushing my limits. It’s what I feel right now and I really hope I can give that same vibe to my fans.
Planning on releasing a lot more new music throughout the year.
Do you play any instruments?
I play piano and think I should put more time into my guitar skills.
Who are your influences?
Firstly, there is so much talent in the music industry, so it would be really tough for me to pick one… As I was getting serious about music, in my early teens, Joss Stone was by biggest influence as I absolutely loved her music and I still do.
How do you get inspiration to write songs?
My inspiration certainly comes from the people I surround myself with. A lot of my songs also reflect my memories growing up. All in all, I think it’s how I translate my experiences.
What would you like to be doing this time next year?
Continue to work on my music and work with talented artists across the world.
When you’re not writing new music or performing, what do you do in your spare time?
There isn’t much of spare time. I like to plan ahead and keep myself busy.
What song do you currently have on repeat?
Frank Ocean – Lost
What’s the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
When the going gets tough, the tough get going.
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
There is no shortcut… work hard, believe in yourself, your time will come.
