What is your bands name and what are your roles within the band?
I’m Alexandre MARTORANO, guitar and lead vocal in COLD LANDS. At the beginning, it was a band but since 2017, it became a one-man project.
How did you come up with the name “Cold Lands”?
At this time, we were a band, and we were in a little town, eating and drinking beer, lost in a place called “Les Terres froides”. It’s always difficult to find a good name for your band but this one appeared like the best that we could find to describe our music.
What is your genre of music?
I don’t like to classify any music in a case you know, but a lot of chronicles defined the project like an atmospheric rock music. I think it’s a quite good description of COLD LANDS.
What made you go in to music?
When I was a child, I knew immediately that it was what I wanted to make… All my family was ever in the music, playing instruments or singing, so it was natural that I followed this way.
Are you signed or unsigned?
Actually, I work with Francesco ALESSI at Studio LE HANGAR 38 in France, who produces and realizes my albums. We’re actually looking for partners to distribute and organize the future release in 2019.
You released your new single ‘THE LIARS PRAYER’,tell us more about it.
This song puts in highlights the duality between a hostile outside world and an inner world in which sentimental and emotional authenticity subsists. A fight between the inner self and the reflection of the external self.
What was the writing process like?
First, I have composed and recorded it in my home studio to have a first version that I could purpose at the Studio. About the lyrics, like most of the time, I write them after the music.
What was the recording process like?
With Francesco Alessi, we have re-recorded all tracks and made all arrangements to produce the final song together.
What is the message you want listeners to take from the single?
Just live and be free to stay what you are cause the death may come faster than you believe.

Will there be an EP or Album and if so, what can we expect?
« The Liars Prayer » represents the first musical color of an émotiv panel in which the listener will be submerged in a new album, release in 2019. We’re just waiting for collaboration to organize the distribution of this new album.
Do you have any gigs planned or a tour in planning?
Actually, we stay concentrated on the release of the new album in 2019 and with the organisation about the future tour.
Do you have any collaborations coming up with any up and coming artists?
On this Album, I wanted to keep this emotional identity so I’ve worked
Would you be up for collaborations if other musicians wanted one with you?and who would they have to contact?
Of course, I’m always opened to collaborate with any artist to make beautiful music. They just have to contact me, I’m always up to discuss.
How do you get inspiration to write songs?
I wrote this song using the same way that I use to work my music. I’m just in connection with my dreams, my emotions and the music comes naturally. The most important thing is for me to keep the authenticity of my feelings. It’s a good way to talk about different subjects and to offer the best.

Nobody can know it….

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?
When I heard the first time my father playing Stairway to heaven of Led Zeppelin, I was 5, and it was for me the revelation.

Don’t be afraid….
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?
Don’t forget who you are and where you’re from, it’s the essence of your own music.

Nothing is definitive.
Where in your hometown is a must go to visit?
The old city in Grenoble is very nice if you want to be inspired by the life.
