BRIT-POP TRIO THE TAILORMADE CHATS WITH ME ALL ABOUT THEIR LATEST RELEASE ‘MR PERFECT’ AND MORE, CHECK OUT OUR CHAT HERE!

What are your names?
Hello we’re Matt, Jack and Aaron

What is the bands name?
We’re The Tailormade

How did you come up with the bands name?
We were sat in a Wetherspoons trying to think up a new name as our old one was dreadful, a friend of ours suggested Tailormade because we put our own spin on covers and we adapted it from there and became The Tailormade.

What is your genre of music?
We’re indie Brit pop. Think of Lily Allen and The Kooks had triplets.

Give us a little bio about you as individuals and a band
So we all formed in Cumbria after meeting at uni, we were mates first which I think helps. We moved down to London and from there were crowned London’s best buskers, sold out the o2 Islington and supported Tom Jones and Madness and various other amazing artists.
We all come from completely different backgrounds musically, Aaron’s more folk and indie and loves anything northern like Oasis. Matt’s more into his rap and loves the streets and Eminem and Jack’s more pop and loves anything from Ed Sheeran to Jamie T. It gives us a nice blend of different styles.

You guys released your new single ‘Mr Perfect’,tell us more about it
So we had the idea for this concept whilst back at uni inspired by a friend who goes for rotten blokes and when we found some lyrics we decided to work on it again, we wrote it dead quick and took it straight to the band. We fell in love instantly.

Describe the tracks in two words
Party time

What was the writing process like?
It was really quick, we knew what we wanted to say and we don’t take ourselves too seriously which makes it a lot easier.

What was the recording process like?
The recording process was amazing, our producer Chris is wicked and had a vision for it straight away, we got the band in and all secretly knew it was the first single. We didn’t say until they were all done.

You also released the music video out for Mr Perfect, what was the making process like?
It was a lot of fun but also cold. We were in a studio in the middle of December with our creator Chelsey. She was brilliant. Taking photos of barbies one by one was not the way she wanted to spend her Christmas holidays but she did a fab job.

What was the inspiration behind the video?
We love the idea of the to show take me out and everyone looking for mr perfect but most of the time they’re pretty rotten.

What else can we expect from you all?
We’ve got loads more singles coming out this year. We can’t wait to share what we’ve been doing.

Do you have any gigs or a tour coming up?
We’ve got quite a few big summer shows coming up. Some cool support tours and festivals that we’ll be announcing very soon.

If so where will you be heading?
It’s all under wraps at the moment but will
Be here soon!

What made you go in to music?
We loved what we were doing when we were just messing around and kind of just fell into it and it all happened quite naturally which is quite nice.

Are you a signed?
We’ve got an amazing team around us, brilliant management, amazing producer, wicked PR and radio plugging and a top booking agent. We’re still unsigned for the time being but when you’ve got a great team that’s a top place to start.

Do you play any instruments?
Aaron plays most string instruments, Matt plays guitar and keys and Jack attempts to hit a tambourine and strums three chords from time to time.

Who are your influences?
I think we’re all influenced by different acts but we love Ed Sheeran, Lily Allen, The Streets, Jamie T. Real British pop.

How do you get inspiration to write song?
We’re Inspired by everything from our story’s and life to story’s we see on the news or affecting friends. Usually it’s of one of us has had a certain experience.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
We’d love to be selling out tours and headlining festivals. We just wanna be doing music, it’s what we love.

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
We’re usually in the pub haha. We don’t take life too seriously so when we’re not working we like to let our hair down.

Where would your dream venue to play in your hometown?
Well we’re all from different places but we got to play Lytham Festival to 15000 supporting Olly Murs and The Madness which is Jack’s hometown so that was a dream come true. We all live in London and would love to play Koko.

If you could collaborate with one UK Artists or Band who would it be?
It’s gotta be Ed.

If you could collaborate with one US Artists or Band who would it be?
One Republic are known for writing bangers or maybe Justin Timberlake. He’s so sick

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?
We all have different songs but I think the overall one that sparked it was Ed Sheeran ‘A Team’. We loved him from the beginning and used to cover some of his tunes.

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
Dare to suck. Be rubbish, write rubbish, you get better. Everyone does.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?
Be yourself. Do the music you love but also take feedback.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
Fake it till you make it. It got us into some wicked parties when we were starting out.

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
Spare strings
Beer
Battery’s
Water
Denim jacket (Jack)
