Could you introduce yourselves, what are your names?
Our names are Adam, Curt, Jackson and Joel. Together we are Letters to Lions.
How did you come up with the band’s name?
We saw it on the back of a bottle of hot sauce.
How would you define your genre of music?
We play our own brand of high energy, real sparkly rock n roll.
Describe each other in 2 words.
Adam- Ethnic, aromatic. Joel – big dog. Jackson – “punctual”, hung Curtis- true blue
What made you go into music?
Babes and brewskies.
Your single ‘Coming Around’ is out, tell us more about it.
come around is about getting stuck in the rut and finding your way through to the other side.
What was the naming process like?
Joel wanted to call him Bruno but Adam thought he looked more like a Michael, so we flipped a coin and got “Come Around”.
What was the writing process like?
We wrote the songs for the EP whilst living in a house together over the period of 8 months, it happened pretty quickly and easily. Once we start jamming the songs just fall together.
What was the recording process like?
We recorded with Lachlan Mitchell at parliament studios, he’s a real professional and a damn genius so it was really eye opening. We grew a lot as musicians and people recording this.
Will we see a EP or Album this year?
You will be seeing an Ep its going to be titled Grays Point.
Who would the band consider as their influences?
Malcom Young, Kylie Minogue, INXS, The Screaming Jets
Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
Employed maybe?
When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
We play heaps of yatzhee.
What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to get more into the music scene?
Romance is Dead – Parkway Drive.
What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
Curls get the girls.
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry but just as an artist?
Be you, Create for you, and never to please someone else.
You are straight off tour;
1) where do you go? 2) who did you see? 3) what did you eat?
We toured across Canada it was dope. We saw our boy Andy Shauf, and the Gang at Eden dispensary. And we ate burgers… lots of burgers.
Where is your favourite place to go in Australia?
Grays Point.
If you had to give your younger self advice, what would it be?
Practice your instrument more.
