INTRODUCING BOYBAND ‘ROMAN ROAD’ THE FUTURE BREAKERS OF 2017 AS ANNOUNCED BY CAPITAL FM, GET TO KNOW WHO THEY ARE RIGHT HERE!

What are your names?
AARON- Hi I’m Az
CLIFF– Hi I’m Cliff
DAVID– Hello I’m David
ADAM– And I’m Adam

Tell us the story behind the band’s name?
CLIFF– We had so many ideas before Roman Road came along. Some pretty embarrassing ones too haha
DAVID– The name Roman Road was Cliff’s idea and it was the first street we rehearsed on
AARON– Lucky we didn’t rehearse on a street named Hillbilly Lane or something, we’d be in trouble haha

What is your genre of music?
ADAM– It’s standard pop really. But it has influences of RnB and rock in there also

Give us a little bio about you as a band and individuals.
DAVID– So we are a pop group from London, we’ve been going for about a year now and we are current future breaker winners which was announced on Capital FM a couple of months back which was pretty awesome
CLIFF– We aren’t your typical boy band. We are pretty individual in our styles and looks and that kinda works well; it gives you something a little bit fresh and edgy.
AARON– We are still very boyband-esque in terms of formula. Like Cliff’s the cheeky one who the girls love, Adam is the mysterious one, I’m the funny one and David is the weird one
DAVID– I actually like being the weird one, it’s good to be different right!

Are you a signed?
AARON– We are currently unsigned but have been in talks with various managers and talent scouts
ADAM– You want to make sure you sign with the right person, who understands your brand and you as people

You was announced as the 2017 Future Breakers, what was your reaction when you were announced?
DAVID– It was insane! Like being announced on Capital FM by Marvin Humes and then hearing them play back your song- Every musicians dream right there!
ADAM– Being recognised for doing something you love in an industry that is so hard to break was very rewarding. I think we are still buzzing from it!

Who was the first person you told?
ALL- OUR MUMS! Haha
CLIFF– Our families are very supportive of what we do, and it’s really encouraging to know that we have their support all the way
AARON– The fans were very supportive when we announced it on social media too. We are very grateful for it, and it motivates us to continue with the hard work.

Tell us more about your track ‘ Let Me Try”.
ADAM– Let me try was our debut single. It’s a typical pop song mixed with an electronic/tropical influence,
DAVID- We wanted to try something a little different for our first song. Our producer Fabian did a great job on the production.

How has the response been so far?
AARON– The response has been amazing. We were extremely excited to see our song go onto ITUNES, googleplay and spotify.
CLIFF– The fans liked it so we were happy haha

What was the writing process like for ‘Let Me Try’ ?
CLIFF– I think writing processes change all the time. Sometimes an idea will just come to you straight away and you quickly record it on your phone so you don’t forget it, other times you find yourself with writer’s block especially if you try to force something. Let Me Try was pretty straight forward. We just jammed a few ideas out and it came naturally.
ADAM- Once we had an idea, we rough recorded it and sent it to our producer who then composed the track.
AARON– We did it in a weekend and then had to perform it on the Monday for the first time at Global Studios, so it was extremely quick in terms of writing a fully produced song.

Will we be seeing an EP or album? If so can you tell us more about that?
DAVID– We’ve spoke about an EP. We have just finished recording our next single which is released this summer, so an EP is definitely looking likely.
AARON– We have lots of ideas for future songs on voice recordings on our phones. Sometimes Cliff will ring me up at 3 in the morning with a new song idea haha
CLIFF– The best ideas definitely come at night haha

Will you be touring this year?
ADAM– We have some festivals we are performing this year up and down the country. And then some gigs in between
If So where will you be heading?
DAVID– We are performing main stage at Burton Fest along side Matt Terry and Union J which will be awesome
CLIFF– We also start our first ever school tour in September around the UK.

What made you go in to music?
AARON– We’ve all been involved in music since a very young age. Before Roman Road we all did different music ventures.
CLIFF– I think that’s what makes this band work. We all brought something fresh and unique to Roman Road as we all had diverse musical tastes.

Do you play any instruments?
ADAM- We can all play the guitar. Cliff also plays the piano. We sometimes bring instruments on stage, especially the more intimate gigs or if we play an acoustic set.

Who are your influences?
DAVID– We are all massive pop fans in general. Growing up, we each listened to different artists, I’m a massive fan of 50s music
CLIFF- Growing up boybands were my life. I was a massive NSYNC and Backstreet boys fan. I think I still know some of the dance moves. I also loved Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury
AARON– Collectively we all like the same music. We love Backstreet boys, Little Mix and Ed Sheeran.

How do you get inspiration to write songs?
CLIFF– I think inspiration for a song comes in so many different ways. Whether it be your current mood or if you want to tell a particular story. Sometimes you might just be playing a few chords on the guitar and an idea or emotion just follows.Listening to other artists helps a lot too. You draw inspiration from songs you really like and take that with you and add it to your new creation.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
DAVID– Performing at the o2!
AARON– We’d like to think we’d still be together making great music. It’s a massive passion of ours and we enjoy every aspect of it, whether it be writing or performing, it’s something we want to do for the rest of our lives.

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
ADAM– We are just four normal lads. We love our football and going out and having fun
AARON– We also enjoy our curry nights and pre gig nandos.
CLIFF– We are together a lot so music naturally becomes part of our everyday lives.

Where would your dream venue to play in your hometown?
DAVID– We would love to play at the o2 and Wembley. But also we’d love to perform around the world. It’s a big ambition of ours
If you could collaborate with one UK Artists or Band who would it be?
CLIFF– It would probably have to be Ed Sheeran. He’s an amazing songwriter and seems to be a very humble guy. We’d probably all get drunk afterwards too haha

If you could collaborate with one US Artists or Band who would it be?
ADAM– Probably Bruno Mars or 5th Harmony, I think we’d have really good chemistry

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
AARON– Make sure you get enough sleep haha
DAVID– Aaron can literally fall asleep anywhere! It’s not even a joke
ADAM– Best advice would probably be stay committed to what you are doing and don’t feel disheartened by the knock backs.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?
AARON– Our advice to a new artist is to stay focused. Every no is one step closer to a yes
CLIFF– Most importantly enjoy what you do.Try to find a sound that works for you and get yourself out there as much as possible
DAVID– Make sure you use all the social media tools such as Twitter, Facebook etc and try to build a following
ADAM– Check out websites and bloggers who can help with getting your name out there. Be patient, stay committed and good things will come your way.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
DAVID- You can be wrong a million times but you’ve only got to be right once
CLIFF- A quote i love is from Gandhi, “Be the change you want to see in the world”. I actually got it tattooed on me

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
AARON– Our microphones! It might sound silly but you never know if the venues back line or mics are going to give you trouble
ADAM– Manuka honey. We were told how good it was for your voice and tried it and we have used it ever since
CLIFF– LYRICS!!! Haha we are guilty of forgetting song words!
DAVID– Bottles of water to keep hydrated and our throats wet.
AARON– Always bring extra strings for your guitar, and maybe an extra t shirt, I’m a nuisance for spilling food or drinks down my top!

Do you have social media accounts so your fans can follow you?
DAVID- We are on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Youtube
