How old are you?

I’m currently 19 although my 20th birthday is very soon! (19th September)

What is your genre of music?

I like to think of myself as acoustic pop. I like to write songs that are lyrically appealing to all age groups and will leave an impression

Give a Little Bio of yourself.

I started playing guitar when my auntie gave me a second hand guitar and a self-tutor book when I was 13. I didn’t start writing songs until much later. I saw myself as an actress really and will be going to Mountview in September, but as musical theatre was my passion the music element has developed from there. Writing was a way for me to make sense of friends’ relationship problems initially. I went to Brentwood Ursuline school and had the lead role in We Will Rock You at the end of the last school year. As Ursuline is an all girls school I played the lead male role!

How long have you been doing music?

I started writing when I was about 16-17. My first recording was Brick by Brick which was recorded about this time last year. I didn’t really start performing as a solo artist until earlier this year.

What made you go in to music?

I wrote at home initially as a way of expressing myself (as many people do). Lots of my friends used to share their problems etc with me and putting these situations into songs seemed to simplify them and make them manageable. I auditioned for a London company who were looking for ‘new artists’. It was there I recorded Brick by Brick but they didn’t offer the commitment to me that I was hoping for and luckily my hairdresser knew someone who was looking for an artist to manage and we hooked up and everything has developed from there. It has all moved quite quickly in the last 9 months!

What Instruments do you play?

Guitar is my main instrument but I can also play drums and a little bit of ukulele! Obviously I sing as well

Are you a Signed Artist?

No I’m not currently signed. I am looking forward recording an EP in the Spring of next year and if a label were interested that would be great but I’m realistic that the music industry is very diverse today and I may have to release the EP independently. The advantage of being signed is the team that is (hopefully) built around you but I am working hard to build my own team so fingers crossed it will all come together

Who are your influences?

When I started I was influenced mainly by my parents’ music. Eva Cassidy and Johnny Cash were favourites and are probably responsible for my lyrical style. Today I particularly like acts like John Mayer, Tom O’Dell and Ed Sheeran. However, because of my drumming, there are also a number of rock bands that I like which would surprise a lot of people if they were to listen to my music!

When will you be releasing new music?

We had considered releasing Brick by Brick this year, particularly as it has had a lot of radio play. I’ve been very lucky that it has been such a popular ‘radio friendly’ track. But we are now looking at putting the full EP together first and release Brick by Brick just before the release of the EP. So hopefully March/April next year.

How do you get inspiration to write songs?

My initial inspiration was friends and family but there are only so many songs you can write like that! Recently, I’ve started to use my acting skills to write ‘in character’. I may find a character in a film or book that inspires me or sometimes lyrics in someone else’s song and I write as if it were their life.

Where is your dream place to perform (Country)?

Ooooo good question! I think everyone wants to perform in America just because of the enormity of it! Also because my early influences were from America. China and/or Japan would also be amazing as they are so passionate about their music.

Who would you like to perform with, if you got the chance?

I would love to perform with a band to make my sound that much bigger and so that I had lots of people to bounce off of. I’m currently loving an acoustic version of My Hero by the Foo Fighters, musically it’s amazing the way it has been constructed. So any band that would have the ability and skill to make my music sound epic! J

Where do you see yourself in 2-5 years?

Ha! This is a question I’m always asking myself! In 2 years I hope to have an album of songs and a fan base across the UK and maybe even a few abroad. I’d like to think in the next 2 years I will start to be invited to the smaller festivals and have had a support slot with an emerging artist. In 5 years time I would like to have headlined my own tour and have written perhaps 3 albums. I would love to collaborate with someone by then as well and have made it to the bigger festivals. I would also like to have spent some time writing in another country ideally the US, maybe New York!

If you weren’t doing music what would you be doing?

Music and acting are all I have ever wanted to do. My friends think I would make a good car mechanic but mainly because they think I would suit the dungarees! I have thought about being a fitness trainer but I’m not sure I have the energy to train myself!

Who is your favourite Artist or Band at The Moment?

It probably sounds a bit obvious to say Ed Sheeran but I do so love his style. John Mayer has a sound that really appeals to me as it is very guitar driven. There isn’t really a female act at the moment that produces the kind of sound that appeals to me although many of our female ‘pop’ singers do amazing stripped down, acoustic versions of their songs.

If you could go on Tour with any Singer or Band who would it be and why?

Ed Sheeran because I think his fans would appreciate my style

John Mayer because I would be able to tour the states

McBusted because they look like they are having a ball! J

What was the first song you wrote?

My very first song was called Falling For You. I still have it in my set!
