What are your names?
Present in this interview are Krisu (bass), Renko (guitar) and Wuffe (guitar). Our vocalist Anti and drummer Rudy are still recovering from the aftermath of a long weekend, so they couldn’t make it.
What is the bands name?
We are The Feral Kids (and we play rock n’ roll!)
What is your genre of music?
Our music is a mixture of Nordic action rock, punk rock and Vantaanjoki delta blues.
How did you come up with the bands name?
It’s from the original Mad Max movies, and of course it also reflects the wild, untamed nature of the band members.
Give us a little bio about you.
The Feral Kids is a Finnish action rock band formed late 2023. Blending influences from bands like Guns N’ Roses and The Hellacopters, the band is known for their explosive live presence and uncompromising sound. With more music and shows on the horizon, The Feral Kids are here to keep rock n’ roll wild and loud!
What made you go into music?
K: As a kid, watching bands like KISS, WASP and Ozzy I obviously wanted to be like them. Later, as a result of being so bad at sports I decided to try to play guitar and here we are…
W: I wanted to get rich and famous but I couldn’t play football or ice hockey. And ever since I discovered rock music as a kid, it has been a passion of mine.
R: I remember watching AC/DC’s Live at Donington VHS when I was a kid and when Angus started to play Thunderstruck I knew that was the thing I wanted to do. I was pretty good at ice hockey and football but music saved me from sports.
Who are your influences?
All of us have our own biggest influences, of course, but as a group I think bands like Black Sabbath, Guns N’ Roses, The Hellacopters, Hanoi Rocks, Kiss and Smack have influenced us the most.
Are you a signed?
No. At the moment we are an independent act, but if a good offer comes along, we are willing to negotiate.
You released your new single ‘No Wall’, tell us more about the song and the meaning behind it.
Anti wanted to write a story about a narrator who’s reached a point of total frustration. The character in the song is struggling with the idea that the world is out of place, full of lies and materialism. It looks like correcting mistakes won’t make a difference. The damage is already done. But at the same time since the groove in the song is so empowering the actual message of the song is the opposite of frustration and it’s more like: “Fuck it, I’m gonna fight my way through this life and just deal with the shit.”
Describe the track in two words.
Pure adrenaline!
What was the writing and recording process like?
The writing process was fairly effortless. Krisu had come up with the riffs at home and brought the song to our rehearsals, we all liked it and just made some minor adjustments. Then Anti wrote the lyrics and that was it. Recording was relatively easy as well, we were in the lucky position of having an excellent engineer/producer working with us, and we had already played the song together for quite a long time before recording it. The setting was really beautiful too: the studio was in what felt like a winter wonderland in the middle of the forest in February.
Who did you work with on the single?
As a recording engineer and producer we had Mika Haapasalo who is known for a famous Finnish rock band Happoradio. The song was mastered by Svante Forsbäck from Chartmakers who has a world-class CV working with some of the most famous bands in the world (Rammstein, Apocalyptica, Michael Monroe, Backyard Babies etc.)
Will we see a music video drop for the track and if so what can we expect from the creative process for the making?
The music video is coming out soon! In the video, we wanted to capture the energetic live performance of the band. It was filmed beneath the streets of downtown Helsinki.
Will we see an EP or album this year and If so what can you tease about it.
We are releasing more songs this year, the next single will be out on the 29th of May, and it’s going to show a slightly different side of the band. As for a full album, that’s in the works for the future, but it won’t be out just yet.
Will we see any live shows or a tour coming up or in planning, if so what can you tell us about it?
Right now, we’re focusing on writing new material but we’ve got a Finnish tour coming this autumn, stay tuned for the dates!
Where will we be able to buy tickets from?
Dates and ticket links will be announced later, follow our social media accounts for updates
What else can we expect in 2026?
More gigs, more new music and one hell of a party!
Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
On stage at Madison Square Garden, for sure.
What quote or saying do you always stick by?
“These go to eleven!”
When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
– Which city we are in.
– A change of clothes ‘cause it gets really sweaty on the stage.
– Hydration! Always bring plenty of bee.. I mean water, to the stage.
– Bandages for Renko after those ripping guitar solos.
– Muting the drummers mic. Trust us, it’s better for everyone.
