What made you go into music?
When I was 12, the local guitar store (shoutout Pine Cone Music in Georgetown, ON) was running a promotion where if you signed up for lessons, you got a free guitar ( I got a cherry red strat copy). My parents said they’d sign me up if I promised to practice…they never had to ask again, haha.

Who are your influences?
I was inspired to start my journey as a singer-songwriter from watching Frank Turner’s career. There’s a cool documentary on YouTube called “Losing Days” that came out when I was in high school. I remember seeing that and thinking “yep, that’s what I want to do with my life”. These days I’m inspired by all kinds of great music – but I’d have to point to Adrienne Lenker, John Prine, and Josiah and The Bonnevilles.

Are you signed?
I release my music independently 🙂

You released your new song ‘Loved You Well’, tell us more about the song and the meaning behind it.
Loved You Well is a story about a date I went on a few years ago. I was reallllly into this girl. So much so that I called in sick from work to go on a date with her. When we met up…nothing really happened. It wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t good. There was no second date. Weirdly, it stuck with me for a long time – I felt heartbroken for what could have been. The lyrics I wrote aroudn that time became Loved You Well.

Describe the track in two words.
What if

What was the writing and recording process like?
Recording this track was so much fun. We made it in one day at Echo Plant in Port Coquitlam, BC. We captured a performance that felt really special and just rolled with it, adding some harmonies and piano after (shoutout Clayton White!). Making this song was all about capturing a vibe and I’d say we accomploished that.

Who did you work with on the song?
Ryan Worsley produced it, Clayton White played Keys, Pedal Steel, and sang harmonies, and David Ziehr engineered.

Will we see a lyric video for Loved You Well and if so can you tell us about the creative process.
Yes, it’s out now and you can watch it here
This video was really fun to make – all of the lyrics are handwritten and we captured some scenes that feel exactly like the song.

Will we see a new EP or Album and if so what can we expect from the creative process.
Yes, there is something coming soon. I can’t wait to tell you all about it so make sure you stay in touch on my socials for the big reveal…

Will we see  any live shows or a tour coming up or in planning, if so what can you tell us about it?
Yes! I am playing 4 shows in Quebec with Glass Tiger at the end of April, and then I’m going on a solo tour of Germany and the UK in May. Then, I’ll be embarking on another Canadian tour in the fall, which isn’t announced yet. I’m so excited to hit the road again and share these songs.

Where will we be able to buy tickets from?

An even better songwriter with an even bigger global community. We’re building something real here!

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
I can’t think of a good one right now – but I will say that Clayton (keyboard, pedal steel) and I started every. single. day. on our 38-show tour with Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again” and it made every day a little better.
