Trigger Warning: Sad heartbreak songs ahead. Breakups in the mirror are closer than they appear. Parker Graye has solidified herself as a breakthrough artist and songwriter. Her single “Halfway” amassed over one million streams in under four months, and 2024 saw the release of her debut album Lyin’ To Me—a two-year project featuring breakout single “Good At Gettin’ Gone” (#39 at Canadian country radio), “One That Got Away,” and the title track, which earned her a spot as a SiriusXM Top of the Country semi-finalist. She’s played coveted slots across Canada including Boots and Hearts Music Festival, the CCMA Songwriters Series, and made her CMA Fest debut in June 2025. As a songwriter, she’s landed over 25 indie cuts and collaborated with Troy Verges, Brett James, Donovan Woods, Elysse Yulo, Olivia Daponte, Jerry Flowers, Jenna Reklaw, Emily Reid, Gavin Slate, Owen Riegling, Tebey, and more. What made you go into music?
It’s tough to explain, it was definitely a feeling. It was this innate need to do it. No one in my family was musically inclined or encouraged me to go after it, it was just something I LOVED. I’d spend my nights illegally downloading music on Napster or Limewire and singalong at my computer.. I’m sure there’s a folder somewhere on my childhood Dell computer that has some cringe worthy videos of me singing along to something I had no business trying to sing! (lol!!)
Who are your influences?
It changes over the years but the ones that have been consistent are Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, Lady A, Dermot Kennedy, Kelsea Ballerini, Ashley McBride, so many!!!

I’m not, fully independent on the writer and artist side! I’m hoping this year I can find myself a home! 🙂
You released your NEW single ‘When Do We Stop Talking’, tell us more about the song and the meaning behind it.
“When Do We Stop Talking” came as an idea after some reflection about relationships and how for me, the part that is really challenging is when to fully let go and kick the habit of talking to the person. You don’t want to let go, but you also know it’s equally as painful to hold on.
Here’s a wee monologue I wrote about it…
“When Do We Stop Talking” is about the part of a breakup no one prepares you for — the waiting room. The space where you’re not together, but you’re not gone, either. Where the phone lights up at 4AM, the key is still under the doormat, and every quiet moment feels like a cliffhanger. It’s the fear of walking into your favorite bar and seeing them with someone new, the sting of remembering a version of you they no longer reach for, and the quiet panic of wondering if one of you let go too soon. It’s for the ones who still check their phone in the dark, hoping their name might glow across the
screen… for the ones who type “I miss you” and erase it before their heart can follow through. Because someone always moves on first. And when they do, you don’t know what’s waiting for you on the other side of that moment. All you know is that it comes without warning—slow motion and chaos all at once—the breath leaving your chest, the tears you can’t hold back, the way the world tilts just enough to remind you that nothing will ever be the same again.

Gut Punch & Heartbreaking
What was the writing and recording process like?
I wrote this song with two of my favourite girl friends, Olivia Daponte and Averie Bielski. It was actually Averie’s birthday so it was already a special day. As we do, we yapped and hummed and hawed over ideas but this one stuck out to all of us. I don’t recall the song being tough to write, i feel like it really fell out for us that day.
Who did you work with on the track?
I recorded the track back in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada with my favourite producer team, The Renaissance. These guys have been on the journey with me for a few years now and they truly understand my sound and what i’m trying to achieve, so taking this song to them was a no brainer.
Will we see a music video for the single and if so what can we expect?
I don’t believe so, but with so many releases planned for 2026, you may see something visual at some point!! 😉
Will we see an Album or EP in 2026 and if so, what can we expect from it and what will the meaning be behind it.
So, “When Do We Stop Talking” is actually the title track of the record that I’m planning to drop in the Fall. The year will be filled with reminders of WHY you should stop talking to THAT person. 😉
Will we see any live shows or a tour coming up or in planning, if so what can you tell us about it?
Some stuff in the works currently, but nothing to share just yet. I’d LOVE to be on the road a lot this year, so keep your fingers crossed for me!!!
What else can we expect in 2026?
MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC – so much music. This batch of songs is probably my favourite to date. There’s a few tracks in here that really feel SO ME and it’s special when you get to that place. More social media, showing up as my whole self, it’s going to be a GREAT YEAR!
Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
OH wow!!! Hopefully on the road touring, still writing songs for other artists and watching those songs go off into the world and do amazing things. I’d love to be writing consistently with the people i write with now and sprinkle in some of my hero writers.
What quote or saying do you always stick by?
“You don’t learn how to swim by reading about water” AND… cause i can’t help myself “Don’t believe everything you think.”
