What is your name?
Matte’

What is your genre of music?
Pop and Alternative RnB

Give us a little bio about you.
I’ve been making music since I was 14. Born in Atlanta and based in Los Angeles, I create a sound that blends raw emotion with alternative rock and cinematic pop. Influenced by R&B and pop, my music dives deep, grunge guitars, haunting synths, and lyrics that feel like truth in the dark. I don’t follow trends; I follow feelings. Every song is a reflection of where I’ve been and who I’m becoming.

What made you go into music?
Music has always been a part of me. My dad was a musician, and my whole family shares a deep love for music. Growing up, music and sports were pretty much our main forms of entertainment. I gravitated toward music because I admired the artists I saw performing at award shows, their energy, creativity, and the incredible visuals that brought their songs to life really inspired me.

Who are your influences?
My musical influences are Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury and Joe.

Are you signed?
I am not, 100% independent.

You released your single ‘Lie To Me’, tell us more about the single and the meaning behind it.
‘Lie to Me’ is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever made. I love performing it, it came from a real place, a breakup where I didn’t know whether to stay or walk away. The song’s about that feeling when you’d rather be lied to than feel nothing at all, just to hold on a little longer. I made the hook and verses on a voice note and even did the guitar sounds with my mouth to show the producer the vibe. He ran with it, and the track just took off. It’s a mantra, it starts with pain, turns into anger, and ends in realization. It’s raw, it’s emotional… like letting the beast out

Describe the track in two words.
INTENSE and Captivating

What was the writing and recording process like?
The recording process felt natural and effortless. I came into the studio with clear concepts and melodies already living in my head. I had recorded a few voice notes, just sketches of ideas, and from there, everything began to take shape almost on its own. The producers and my co-writer share such an incredible creative chemistry; it’s truly a blessing to collaborate with people who understand the vision so deeply. I believe we’ve only begun to tap into the magic we can create together. When we finished this record, we all felt it, something special, something undeniable. From the vocals to the production to the lyrics, every element aligned in a way that just felt right. It’s one of those songs that carries its own energy, infectious, authentic, and full of life.

Who did you work with on the single?
I worked with some friends and very talented individuals, Daniel Cunningham,Carter Vogel, and Shakale Davis (Co Writer) on this record and the entirety of the project.

Will we see an EP or Album and if so what can we expect from it?
We just released a project titled Cancel Me Later but it is more to come in the future. Working as we speak.

Do you have any live shows or a tour coming up or in planning, if so what can you tell us about it?
Yes, I have a few shows lined up for the rest of 2025 and into early 2026. Each performance is an evolution, they get stronger as I grow. I love reimagining my music on stage, adding new layers and textures that you won’t find in the original recordings. Sometimes that means stripping things down acoustically, bringing in a flamenco guitar, or leaning into a more soulful, ballad-driven moment. It’s my way of
keeping the performance alive, for me and for the audience.
