What are your names?
Guillermo Garcia
Poli Elizondo

What is the band’s name?
The Echo Veils

How did you come up with the band’s name?
In some cultures veils are usually used in weddings and in funerals. To me, that symbolises both endings and beginnings. And what are echoes but sounds/moments of the past that keep resonating in the now and can keep resonating in the future. I think that the band’s name is fitting considering 30+ years of musical collaboration and experience and our goal to resonate with our audience.

What is your genre of music?
Good question! We have many influences from progressive, classical, art-rock/pop, psychedelic, and alternative. Don’t think we can check all the boxes of just one genre!

Give us a little bio about you.
We both come from Monterrey Mexico which is northeast Mexico. Met in a battle of the bands circa 1987 (neither of our bands won by the way). Since then, we have been in several bands together and on our own. Most notably Guillermo’s Electro Compulsive Therapy, and our previous band The Fi Rules and the Whitenoise album that was released in 2011. But we have been working on songwriting and musical arrangements for almost 30 years. The Echo Veils started by bringing in some of these musical ideas and a few new ones which we started recording in 2020 and released in May 2024.

What made you go into music?
Always wanted to be a guitar player. Don’t think we can have any kind of rock without the electric guitar.

Who are your influences?
David Gilmour, Mark Knopfler, Alex Lifeson (RUSH), Steven Wilson, The Edge, Sigur Ros, Peter Gabriel, Tears for Fears, Talk Talk, the waterboys, nick cave and many more

Are you a signed?
Independent

What was the writing and recording process like?
Most of the writing was done at a distance since I live in Toronto and Guillermo in Monterrey. So many files going back and forth during the writing and arranging process. For the vocal and guitar takes we met at my Toronto studio to record. Drums were tracked at a Monterrey studio and Bass recorded on the road. Everything was mixed at my Toronto studio where we made a stereo and an ATMOS mix.
