INTRODUCING CUMBRIA BORN ‘GEORGINA GALE’ WHO GRACES THE SCENE WITH A FOLK-POP / INDIE-ROCK SOUND THAT WILL TAKE YOU ON A MUSICAL JOURNEY YOU WILL NOT FORGET. READ OUR CHAT BELOW.

What is your name?
Georgina Gale

What is your genre of music?
Folk/pop/indie/rock

Give us a little bio about you.
I’m originally from The Lakes District, Cumbria but currently living in Newcastle for University. I write songs to get stuff off my chest because music is the one thing that makes everything else seem silent…which is weird because music is all about making noice.

What made you go into music?
Nothing in particular, if I’m honest. I just simply love music. My family aren’t particularly musical but always made sure that I was exposed to it from a young age. Now I have to do it every day otherwise I go insane.

Who are your influences?
Holly Humberstone and Pale Waves. I love Holly’s lyrics and Pale Waves are played full blast everyday so they end up naturally influencing me a lot.

Are you a signed?
Yes

You released your new latest Single ‘Let Down’, tell us more about the single and the meaning behind the song.
The song is about finding the courage to move out of your comfort zone. I kind of used the idea of moving out as a metaphor for this to make a better story but the main incentive is about stepping away from places and/or people you feel too comfortable with to the point they may hold you back from the next step in life. Whatever that might be…

Describe the track in two words.
Upbeat and nostalgic.

What was the writing and recording process like?
So fun! I think it was the first song Tony Brown and I co-wrote. It was great to work together and bounce off each other.

Who did you work with on the single?
The brilliant Tony Brown

Can we expect a music video and if so tell us more about the making.
Hopefully! I’m not entirely sure what plans are for this at this moment in time.

We can expect an EP, give us some insight of what we can we expect from the creative process.
The creative process ranged quite a lot because the first song we did was Yellow Line which I wrote two years ago, then other songs I co-wrote with Tony in a day or two. The input from Tony definitely made the songs more exciting and brought the sound to life.

Describe each track in two words.
Where did you go? – liberating and uplifting
FaceTime – brutal and heartbreaking
Yellow line – raw and emotional
Manchild – honest and fun
4 in the afternoon – upbeat and lighthearted

What else can we expect in 2024?
Hopefully I will be recording more music and doing more live gigs with the full band because that is my favourite thing

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
I would love to have been on tour in the UK. I’d also like to have put more music out.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
“Womp womp”. When something is bothering me, I just say that out loud and it makes things seem less of a big deal.

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
When I’m at a gig I can’t forget my guitar, the words, the reason why I started music in the first place, energy and a bottle of water

Do you have social media accounts so your fans can follow you?
Yes, Insta
