Holdyn Barder’s Jersey Shore anthem ‘Stone Harbor’ exploded in Summer 2022. Within a week of its release, NBC, FOX, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and more covered the song’s rapid success. Barder spent the rest of the entire summer promoting ‘Stone Harbor’ on an acoustic run throughout the South Jersey region. Barder’s song ‘How Do I Get There From Her’ also found similar success in 2022. The Sam Hunt-penned breakup ballad, produced by Tree Vibez Music songwriter Chris Loocke, was featured on CMT and garnered over a quarter of a million streams in its first few weeks. Defined by a unique sonic identity capturing familiar summer-infused lyrics, Chesney-like anthems, and stadium-electrifying guitar riffs, Holdyn’s Barder’s distinct sound conveys an old soul within the 24 year-old. With aims of selling out stadiums, Barder looks forward to releasing new music and connecting with new fans every single day.
What made you go into music?
I discovered a blue guitar-shaped paperclip next to my tennis bag one day in 2013! I took it as a sign from God and the universe to pursue music, and here we are today! I have always loved the way music impacted my perception of life and my own reality. I want to do the same for my fans!
Who are your influences?
Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Taylor Swift, Luke Combs, Garth Brooks
Are you signed?
At the time of this interview, I am unsigned.
You released your new single ‘ Kick It Up’, tell us more about the single and the meaning behind the song.
It’s a feel-good anthem that celebrates the high-energy moments of life! There’s nothing much to it other than a strong reminder to let loose and have fun!
Describe the track in two words.
What was the writing and recording process like?
“Kick It Up” was a song that I wrote with my buddies Tyler Skye and Scott Loewen! Over Christmas in 2021, I came up with the idea while jamming to a HARDY track. I wrote the first verse, the chorus, and the melody in 20 minutes! I knew I had to get someone else on it, so I presented it to my boys! They absolutely loved it, ran with the idea, and we finished the track a few weeks after its inception!
Who did you work with on the single?
Tyler Skye, Scott Loewen, Sean Powers, Jacob Robertson
Will we see a music video for ‘Kick It Up’, and if so what can we expect from the creative process like?
The music video released when the song did and it is available now on YouTube! The video is just a big, fun party! We took stock characters from different neighborhoods in Nashville, dramatized them, and showed the party and “chill” side of Nashville. My entire band as well as actors gave 100% energy throughout the entire shoot! The only message is to have fun and “kick it up!”
Can we expect an EP or Album and if so, what can we expect from it.
I can’t disclose much about this, but I’d love to put a full project out later in 2023 or in 2024! I have a vision for all of my songs, and I think that they deserve to live together, on one sonically cohesive work! I can’t wait!
Do you have any live shows coming up?
At the moment, I plan on playing one-off shows across the country. I am currently scheduled to open for Blake Shelton and HARDY at 2023’s Barefoot Country Music Festival in Wildwood, NJ! I am so excited!
Let us know where we can get tickets if so.
What else can we expect in early 2023?
I have lots of new music in the works! Stay tuned!
Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
I’d love to be touring internationally and have a few #1s on my belt!
What quote or saying do you always stick by?
“Prior, proper planning prevents piss, poor performance.”
