What is your name?
Hi, my name is Annissa!

Give us a little bio about you.
Anyone else remember the 2000s? MTV, skateboards, iconic rom coms and the carefree kinda music which made you want to romanticise your life? Cause it’s coming back better than ever, 15 year old Annissa Murad is lighting up the 2023s. With her bold rock-chic Avril Lavigne visuals and Taylor Swift’s relatable storytelling skills, Annissa sure knows how to bring on the beat leaving you feeling like just another teenager on the block, no matter your age. In addition to her songwriting skills and ability to rock out on the guitar, Annissa knows her way well round the piano, having been classically trained since the age of four years old. Along with having numerous musical inspirations from artists of our century, her musical roots range far back to the days of Mozart and Chopin, the great classical era fusing into her pop-punk inspired anthems and delicate ballads. From playing an original song in London’s O2 Arena and grabbing second place in the world renown international singing competition “Teen Star” to writing songs with acclaimed Nashville artists such as Britton Cameron and Grammy nominated writers Kim McLean and Margaret Becker, Annissa is striving towards pop stardom, carefully curating her craft to produce the universal soundtracks to living your best life. Hence, get ready to be transported to a brand new world of fun and adventure; lining each soundtrack with a deeper philosophical meaning, and breaking musical boundaries, Annissa is taking you on a ride which no artist has yet to begin, until now…

What is your genre of music?
I have quite a few songs of different genres however I’d say it is mostly pop and pop-rock

What made you go into music?
After having received Taylor Swift tickets for my christmas present when I was 11 and going to watch her reputation performance, I was absolutely blown away by her energy and stage presence and thought to myself this has to be something I pursue! The experience was absolutely magical!

Who are your influences?
I would definitely say Taylor Swift and Avril Lavigne. I just love Taylor Swift’s ability to tell a profound story with her songs whilst I really admire Avril Lavigne’s energy and super cool pop-rock vibe!

Tell us more about your upcoming releases you have planned for 2023 and when can we expect them?
I can’t reveal too much because I’ve got some top secret plans this year, however I can definitely say to brace yourselves for new music this summer which I’m so excited for all the fans to hear!

What is the influence for the new music in 2023.
My new music for this year is majorly influenced by my personal life and I cannot wait for when the time comes to share this new chapter…

Tell us more about your writing and recording process.
The thing I love about songwriting is it’s different every time. Sometimes I’ll come up with a super cool lyric and write it down on my phone for later when I get a great melody idea, whereas there are days where I’m inspired to write, pick up my guitar and make a song from start to finish. I also love writing with my fave co-writer Britton Cameron and Kim McLean which I have learnt so much from, they essentially have helped shape me into the songwriter I am today.

Do you have any live shows coming up?
Yes I do!! This is probably one of the things that’s exciting me most because I’ve wanted to start performing live for quite some time. The show that’s coming up is a celebration of 100k which I’m going to be putting on as a way to say thank you to the fans for all the support they have shown me to get to where I am today!

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
I mean you never know what will happen, however I’d love to say perhaps winning a Grammy for album of the year and performing a worldwide headlining tour…that sounds pretty cool to me!

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
A quote which I love is “they who believe they can and they who believe they can’t are usually both correct”. I simply love it because it really encapsulates the power of self belief which I carry with me each and every day.

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
1. I cannot forget to rehearse
2. I cannot forget my guitar
3. I cannot forget my water
4. I cannot forget my family
5. I cannot forget my sparkly outfit
