What is your name?
Helen
What is your genre of music?
Pop/ Pop R&B
Give us a little bio about you.
I am an independent artist based in the DMV area; I’ve been writing songs for over 10 years but decided to finally pursue music more professionally almost two years ago. The coolest thing that’s happened in my career so far is my song “Bitter Bitch” being in the Netflix movie ‘Do Revenge” with Maya Hawke and Camila Mendes!
What made you go into music?
I’ve always just had a lot of love for music and always knew it was something I wanted to pursue.
Who are your influences?
I love to listen to all types of artists no matter how big or small and try to soak up inspiration from them all. If I have to pick someone, I look up to Michael Jackson’s music a lot but also anything from Brittney spears to Abba to Bri Runway.
Are you a signed?
No, I am all independent.
You released your new single ‘925, tell us more about the single and the meaning behind the song.
925 drew inspiration from early 2000s Pop and R&B; it’s really just a fun song about embracing your sexy side.
Describe the track in two words.
Fun and sexy.
What was the writing and recording process like?
I started writing this song a little over a year ago and revisited it months later; I loved adding all the new harmonies and layers to it. I then worked on it some more with my producer and we finished the song in a short while!
Who did you work with on the single?
It was just me and the producer I work with, Jamie McArdle.
Will we see a music video for ‘925’ and if so what can we expect from the creative process?
Unfortunately no music video for 925 but it would be super cool to do one.
Will we see an EP or Album and if so, what can we expect from it?
Yes! I am currently working on my first-ever EP and I’m super excited for it! I’m hoping to drop it off sometime in either February or March.
What else can we expect in 2022?
925 is my last release for the year but going to do a few live performances of it and some behind-the-scenes stuff as well!
Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
In 5 years, I hope to get more of music out to the world and continue to do what I love.
What quote or saying do you always stick by?
Putting your happiness first is never selfish.
When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
Honey tea, eggless snacks/food (I’m allergic), water, makeup bag, and phone.
