POP PUNK/EMO SOLO ARTIST ‘JSTNXMLLER’ WHO HAS RELEASED HIS BRAND NEW SONG ‘NOT ACTIN RITE’. A SONG WITH A BIG BALL OF ENERGY AND TO ACCOMPANY THE TRACK IS A VIDEO THAT CAPTURES THE SONG IN A FANTASTIC WAY! WE GOT THE CHANCE TO HAVE A CHAT AND YOU CAN READ ALL ABOUT IT HERE.

What is your name?
Justin Miller (JSTNXMLLR)

What is your genre of music?
Pop Punk / Emo.

Give us a little bio about you.
I’m half Balinese half Australian. I fell into singing because I started out playing drums in a handful of bands with friends and I was shit at it. I am a big lover of all genres of music which may surprise some people, especially classic rock.

What made you go into music?
I was an angry kid who just wanted to smash a drum kit real loud to kind of zone out from the world, it was therapeutic but also satisfying learning how to play to a beat or create a beat.

Who are your influences?
Buddy Nielsen, Mike Hranica, Tom Delonge.

Are you a signed?
I would like to be, but unfortunately I am independent.

You released your new single ’NOT actin rite’, tell us more about the single.
The single is just a complete energy ball of fun. It’s nonsense from lyrics to melody that just generates a fictional look on selling out and acting out like it’s cool or something. When I came up with the idea in the beginning I just wrote the hook in the chorus and then free-styled the rest of the song in a writing session that probably only took a few hours from start to finish.

Describe the track in two words.
Complete Stupidity.

What was the writing and recording process like?
The process can be felt just by listening to the song I feel. It’s a good time.

Who did you work with on the single?
My producer Stevie Knight, Mixer James Paul Wisner and for Mastering Grant Berry.

We also see a music video for ‘Not actin rite’, tell us more about the creative process and filming.
It was always going to be hard to follow up the music video for my debut single “Fake Fcuk” so I had a vision to do something during the day and bring back influences like Blink 182’s “The Rock Show” video with a busted up old school van and just adding in a heap of throwbacks like the glam rock band and comedic sections to really bring my teenage influences into the mix of things but then give it that 2022 vibe.

Will we see an EP or Album and if so, what can we expect from it?
Definitely. You can expect a number of different influences from each song. Album might be a bit of a stretch but there is definitely enough material for an album.

What else can we expect in 2022?
More releases, and more singalongs.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?|
Hopefully touring a lot of international slots on some big festivals and such.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
“Kill ’em with kindness.”

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
The bar, my earasers, my phone, any free drink cards and the safe zone in the pit.
