FROM GROWING UP IN CONNECTICUT TO TAKING ON THE NASHVILLE DREAM WE WANT TO INTRODUCE ‘ZOE CLARK’ A NEW POP SENSATION ON THE RISE AND WITH A NEW RELEASE OUT NOW WE HAD THE CHANCE TO TAKE A CHAT WITH ZOE. GIVE IT A READ IT HERE.

What is your name?
Zoe Clark.

What is your genre of music?
Pop singersongwriter.

Give us a little bio about you.
I grew up in Connecticut but am based in Nashville, TN! I knew I always wanted to be a singer and a songwriter. (My mom has home videos from when I was two years old performing songs I wrote ha-ha)! Music has always been my safe haven and escape. Whether I was going through heartbreak, an unrequited love, or growing into the person I am now, I always looked to music as my outlet. I love the feeling of hearing a song for the first time thinking it was written just for me. Music has this incredible way of making people feel seen and feel less alone and because it has helped me, I want to do that for others. Music is my diary and a way to share my thoughts to the world and Tik Tok gave me a platform to do that.

What made you go into music?
Growing up, my house was never silent. My dad was either blaring James Taylor or Van Morrison in our living room, my sister was listening to Britney Spears and dancing, or my mom was listening to Carol King in the kitchen. Music was like lights in our house, we needed it to see. It makes perfect sense as to why I fell in love with music, because I grew up in a family who appreciated music and felt the power of lyrics. I started singing and was in my first musical at the age of 5, and then started songwriting and sharing my lyrics in middle school.

Who are your influences?
I grew up listening to James Taylor and Carol King so they are huge influences of mine. I also love Taylor Swift, Julia Michaels, and Gracie Abrams

You released your new single ‘Wrong Time’, tell us more about the single.
“Wrong Time” is all about dating in your twenties in 2022. Love today is filled with endless dating apps, dm slide ins, and hook ups and this song is about wanting a true love connection.

What is the meaning behind the single?
Again, this song is all about wanting a true love connection. This song came to be because my friends and I were watching rom coms and wishing we could have a love like Jack and Rose, like Harry and Sally, like Noah and Ali instead of late night texts from the guys we liked on a Saturday night.

What was the writing and recording process like?
For me, songwriting sessions are like therapy. I end up spilling my guts in the writers room, because I want to write the most honest and authentic song possible. I came into the session frustrated about love and with the idea of being born in the wrong time/the wrong generation. From there, Lukas Costas and LeyleT, my two other writers, and I wrote the song in about two hours. Then, Lukas and I dived into vocals where we spent hours adding harmonies, vocal distortions, and endless vocal takes on each section of the song.

Describe the track in two words.
Uplifting and charismatic.

Who did you work with on the single?
Lukas Costas – an incredible producer, and LeyleT!
