What are your names?
David Klocek, Daniel Asher, Scout Klocek and Vlad Danilkovich What is the band’s name? – Flamingo Haze
How did you come up with the band’s name?
We were looking through paint swatches and stumbled across the color “Flamingo Dream”. So naturally we knew this was our future. We spiced it up with “Haze” so we wouldn’t get pinned for copyrights 😬
What is your genre of music?
As a group we all have different ranges of styles that we lean into. Oddly enough we all gravitate to Singer/Songwriter, but collaboratively love to create synth heavy Indie Alt Pop vibes
Give us a little bio about you.
David and Daniel are the original members of the band. I (David) was starKng a band, and Daniel (who has always worked on solo music) wanted to get behind the kit for a group in the area. We played Lincoln Hall for our first gig where we opened up for “The War On Peace”. We played the Tonic Room later in the year and right when momentum was in full swing, COVID shut down the world. David and Daniel continued to work through songs throughout the pandemic, and late last year welcomed in Vlad and Scout to the mix. Since last August we have played 6 shows in the Chicagoland area, we opened up for Local H, Olivia O’Brien and released a full length feature music video (MIA… you should check it out).
What made you go into music?
Music has always been a part of my life. I found very early on that the fondest moments I had growing up all had a song attached to them. Something to help you feel/ express your everyday moments and make them larger than life. Ever since I was young, I knew this would be my path. I’ve been songwriting since I was 16, and I can’t really see a future where I’m not exposing myself to the vulnerability y of creating. I have, and always will want to help people feel what they’re thinking and say how they feel.
Who are your influences?
The Beatles are a major part of my creative influence. They just wrote great songs. Tame Impala, Young the Giant, M83, Coldplay and U2 are some others that come to mind.
Are you signed?
We are currently unsigned and all of us have day jobs to support our career. We like to think that if the right opportunity comes along, we’d love to make the band our only commitment professionally.
You released your new single ‘All Night Long’, tell us more about the single.
All Night Long was such a fun tune to write. The touch and go, young and the restless vibe was something that was such a life giving song. This song was written by Myself and Mitchell Pynakker (who has helped co-write many of the songs). I remember this song being special because some nights it would take us hours upon hours to get a couple lines, and this song pretty much wrote itself.
What is the meaning behind the single?
The meaning is just to let go and live. I just felt the need to express the urgency of Carpe Diem, and how much more full of a life I could lead by following that mantra.
What was the writing and recording process like?
I tapped into the writing process a little early ,but the recording process was super natural as well! This tune was produced by myself and Taylor Moenning. Taylor has helped with a majority of our works in our discography, and has helped establish some of the sonic landscapes that make us who we are.
Who did you work with on the single?
yeah, I’m jumping the gun on every one of these questions 😂 , Mitch helped write the tune with Myself (David), and Taylor helped finish the production/ master.
Will we see a Music video for ‘All Night Long’, what can we expect from the creative process?
We will be recording some visuals for the song, but are keeping the details close to the chest 😬
Will we see an Album or EP this year and if so what can we expect from it?
Yes! We are set to release 2-3 EP’s this year! We’ve been working on this next batch of music for the last two and a half years, and we can’t wait to share!
Do you have any live shows or a tour coming up and if so let us know where we can catch you at?
We are currently booking some shows in Chicago, NW Indiana, Alton Illinois and are looking to play shows in the surrounding states!
What else can we expect in 2022?
We got to work with the legendary producer “Chuck Alkazian” at Pearl Sounds Studios, and will be dropping those tunes potentially this year! We are also making a push on how to best connect with our fan base on all social media plajorms
Will we see any collaboraKons and if so, can you tell us more about them?
We got to Collab with Chuck Alkazian, which was pretty amazing. The man has a career that speaks for itself, and we were incredibly fortunate to have him impart his wisdom as we take our next steps!
Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
We see ourselves making music and connecting with our fans! Navigating the industry right now is difficult at times, but as long as we stay true to providing the best art we possibly can, we believe that’s all that matters.
What quote or saying do you always stick by?
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take… Wayne Gretzky… Michael Scott”
When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
Hair product (Matte finish), Strings, picks (I always forget), a jacket and some snacks, obvi.
Do you have social media accounts so your fans can follow you?
We do! You can go ahead and follow the band on Instagram, Facebook, Spotify, YouTube, Twitter and TikTok! Just go ahead and follow all of them! Insta is where we can connect with you guys the best!
