Roll ’em, light ’em, smoke ’em. We’re three bud enthusiasts who wanted a name that represents us What is your genre of music? Blues/Doom/Rock

Give us a little bio about you.
We’re three blokes based in Sydney, Australia, who have a passion for heavy, bluesy riffs and cannabis. Our unique song-writing style blends tongue in cheek comedy with a retinue of concept characters, who’s legends are woven together into a loose story for our upcoming album “Reefer Madness”.

We all grew up with rock and roll in our families and playing in many other bands. Gus and Rory were playing in another band together and The Bifters seemed the perfect opportunity to represent ourselves for who we really are.

Rory Gallagher, Black Sabbath, Peter Green, Clutch, Witchfinder General, Sleep, Conan… the list can go on.

Not yet.

You are set to release your new single ‘BWS’, tell us more about the single.
In Australia there is a popular liquor-store chain called BWS (beers, wines and spirits). Our song is a play on this, but takes on a whole new meaning. The song opens with a big riff and the line “watcha going to do with that empty bowl?” and carries on from there as a call-to-arms for all bud-minded individuals.

What is the meaning behind the single?
Bulging Weed Sack. Its a song to say “here we are, this is what we’re about, now get high and start dancing!”.

What was the writing and recording process like?
Rory wrote the song initially as a fun, simple rock song for us to start jamming with to find our groove as a trio. Before long we had this fleshed out into an explosive intro to our live set, where it remains to this day. We recorded the song at Defwolf studios with genius George Georgiadis behind the desk, laying down our entire album in just a few days, complete with hilarious samples from iconic cannabis media. We worked very hard, and the end result is better than we could have hoped for; we owe a lot to the vision and enthusiasm of George and his assistant Matt.

Describe the track in two words.
Rock. Roll.

Who did you work with on the single?
George Georgiadis and Matt Jones of Defwolf Studios, Sydney.

Will we see a Music video for ‘BWS’, what can we expect from the creative process?
Not for BWS, but our next single has a video and is certainly one to watch out for! With full-body devil make-up, super hero costumes and a human weed nugget you won’t want to miss it.

Will we see an EP or Album and if so, can you give us a teaser of what to expect?
Our upcoming album “Reefer Madness” takes the listener on a journey, introducing our various concept characters and telling their stories, eventually linking them all together. We blend blues, doom and many other influences, all rolled up nicely and ready to smoke.

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
Pre-show pre-rolls, a lighter, post-show pre-rolls, man where did that lighter go? – another lighter, about 8 sandbags for the kick drum to withstand the almighty heel of doom on Gus.
