What is your name?
Kiersten Blue

What is your genre of music?
Dream Pop/Indie Pop

Give us a little bio about you.
Hi everyone! I am Kiersten Blue. I am a singer songwriter born and raised in New Jersey. I started writing music during the Pandemic lockdown and really fell in love with the craft. In just one year I wrote over 140 songs, some good, some bad, learning so much along the way. Before the pandemic I only played guitar, it was lockdown that inspired me to start writing and singing my own music. I started taking lessons in music production, and learned about the demoing process along with bettering my writing skills. This all lead up to my decision to record three songs in Asbury Park, NJ at Lakehouse Recording Studios. With the help of my Producer Tyler Sarfert and electric guitarist Zac Silvia my songs really came to life.  My First single “Fate or Coincidence” will be released on all streaming platforms on January 21st 2022! This single is in the indie-pop/ dream-pop genre. It will be followed by two additional singles leading up to the release of an EP. I have continued to play live and look forward to what 2022 has in store for my music career!

What made you go into music?
In high school I started taking guitar lessons, I really loved the game guitar hero, as ridiculous as it sounds that is what inspired me to go out and sign up for lessons!

Who are your influences?
I would say my influences are Mazzy Star, Alanis Morissette, and Anna Nalick. I really have a 90s vibe going.

Are you signed?
Nope!

You released your new single ‘Fate or Coincidence’, tell us more about the single.
“Fate or Coincidence” is available on all streaming platforms as of the 21st of January! The song was written on a cold January 2021  afternoon while working at my old retail job on the Asbury Park Boardwalk (shoutout to Wanderlust haha). I wrote the first draft of this song in the notes app on my phone and then when I got home from work created the melody around the lyrics. The day I wrote this song there were maybe three customers I saw in an entire day, and I just started thinking about why those people were crossing paths with me. I started to dive deeper into the idea of why have I met the people in my life and then “Fate or Coincidence was born!

What is the meaning behind the single?
The song is about questioning why people have walked in and out of our lives, and the beauty in the spontaneity of everyday situations.

What was the writing and recording process like?
The writing process was pretty quick the song came together acoustically in about an hour. The demoing process was more complex spanning over a month or so. Recording in the studio was my favorite part, collaborating with Tyler and Zac really brought the song to where it is today! I played acoustic guitar and sang all the vocals on the track, Zac played electric guitar, and Tyler played Bass and Drums along with mixing the project. Recording at Lakehouse Recording studios was a really cool experience, they have awesome equipment! I was lucky enough to record on a Neve console!

Describe the track in two words.
Dreamy & Inquisitive

Who did you work with on the single?
Producer Tyler Sarfert and guitarist Zac Silva

Will we see a Music video for ‘Fate or Coincidence’, what can we expect from the creative process?
Possibly! I have some ideas for a video and plan to work with a friend on the direction of the video. The idea I have would require the video to be recorded in Asbury Park, where the song came to form!

Pre-Save Fate or Coincidence here
