FORMING IN SUMMER 2019 LET US INTRODUCE WIGAN QUARTET ‘FLECHETTES’ WHO HAS A INDIE-ROCK GENRE BUT ALSO TAKES INSPIRATION FROM FOO FIGHTERS, ROYAL BLOOD AND MORE! WE GOT TO CHAT ABOUT THEIR LATEST RELEASE ‘MAKE YOUR MISTAKES’. READ IT NOW.

What are your names?
Jack, Johnny, Nicky and Will.

What is the bands name?
Flechettes

How did you come up with the band’s name?
Jack – when i was a first year undergraduate at Manchester Metropolitan University.

What is your genre of music?
At first, indie rock, but over time we’ve moved to a heavier queens of the stone age // foo fighters and royal blood inspired rock sound

Give us a little bio about you as a band.
We formed in summer 2019, quickly booking shows in around our native northwest England and playing everywhere as much as we could. Before covid, we managed to do 4 shows a week in some cases. We just love playing music live together.

What made you go into music?
Collectively we all love being creative and writing music together. It’s a formula that works when we get into the room with a tune that we feel could go somewhere.

Who are your influences?
Jack – Blossoms, recently Queens of the Stone Age
Johnny – Radiohead, The Beatles
Will – Queens of the stone age, Foo Fighters, Kyuss
Nicky – The Beatles, The Kinks

Are you signed?
Yes! We recently signed to LA and Manchester Based label SoundX3 – which has been incredible.

You released you brand new single ‘Make Your Mistakes’, tell us more about the single.
The whole process of recording MYM made it a track we were very proud of. In terms of content, the track is a reminder that life isn’t always fair and sometimes hiding that makes you worse off.

What is the meaning behind the single?
As mentioned, it essentially is an anthem for those who feel left behind.

What was the writing and recording process like?
We’re used to being in the studio now, so it was relatively straightforward. Working with Gaz, our producer in Wigan, is always a great laugh and we always feel a sense of achievement when we receive the finished product.

Describe the track in two words.
Fast. Loud.

Who did you work with on the single?
Our producer – Gareth Nuttall.

We also see a Lyric video for ‘Make Your Mistakes’, what was your inspiration behind it?
Our talented videographer Louise thought it would be good to include some live footage with the track for this. She followed us to a couple of big shows at Leicester O2 academy and Stoke Sugarmill, when we supported our good friends and hometown heroes The Lathums.

Will  we see any live shows coming up with the album release coming soon and if so where will you be heading?
Right now, we’ve no plans to do a full length album as we want to do another EP to test our song writing against our previous work. One day, with the right songs, an album is definitely an idea.

What else can we expect in the last of 2021 and early 2022?
We’re working hard behind the scenes writing more music and making more plans to blow your socks off in 2022.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
It’s a difficult question i think. We always want to be striving to get bigger and better and we always want to be pushing our creative limits. I think in 5 years if we’ve a couple of sold out tours, perhaps an album out and maybe some international appearances, we’ll be in good stead.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
Will Watts – whenever we have a decision to make like if there’s too many songs in the set i always say – “it’s a good problem to have”

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
Drum sticks
Lead
Engage with the crowd
Enjoy it – it’s easy to let it fly by
Give 100% every time

Do you have social media accounts so your fans can follow you?
