What are your names?
Florian, David, Philipp, Andreas

What is the band’s name?
FRIDAY’S SPIRIT

How did you come up with the band’s name?
When we started as a band, we usually rehearsed on Friday evenings, the word ‘spirit’ we added because we thought it sounded cool. I wish I could give you a more exciting background story, but yeah… here you go – FRIDAY’S SPIRIT.

What is your genre of music?
It’s Punk Rock mixed up with Alternative and Metalcore influences.

Give us a little bio about you.
Our official biography states as follows: After their latest release “For All That’s Left”, Friday’s Spirit now returns with their new EP “Skin And Bones”. About the first track called “A Moment to Be Seen”, the band states the following: “It’s definitely our most favourite song of the new album, and it captures the rollercoaster life that so many people had to endure in 2020. Still, there’s no definite meaning behind the tune, and every person can capture those parts that fit their individual life situation best.” Friday’s Spirit is an Austrian punk rock / alternative rock band based in Hallein, Salzburg. Est. in 2012, the band never forgot it’s roots. However, they are, up to this day, still eager to diversify their music with elements from other rock genres. In 2017, they released their EP “Parts”, which was a live-recording project by ex-guitarist Jonathan Schweizer, leading the band into a new musical direction. After their 2018 maxi-single release “TSTT” and their 2019 released metalcore excursion “For All That’s Left”, Friday’s Spirit finally went back to their pop punk, punk rock ancestry with a whole lot of metal and alternative rock elements.

What made you go into music?
We started playing music when we were still in high school, and it was the best decision ever made. Music never seizes to amaze us. I guess we wanted to sound as cool as the bands that we were listening to back then.

Who are your influences?
Gosh, there are too many. The Menzingers, The Flatliners, The Bouncing Souls, Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, … just to name a few of them.

Are you a signed?
No we are not.

Your new EP ‘Skin and Bones’ is out now, tell us more about the EP.
SKIN AND BONES was a project we started when the pandemic situation in 2020 foretold that live music would still be delayed for an indefinite time. We wanted to keep ourselves busy, thus we started to write and record songs that we had written before. We’re proud of what we have achieved, and we really hope people will dig it as much as we do.

What is the meaning behind the EP?
No underlying, deeply meaningful, and extra extraordinary meaning.

Who did you work with on the EP?
Laurence Crow Illustration.

Describe each track in two words.
Wreckage: heavy, raw
Skin And Bones: positive vibes
Feeling of Control: rhythmic, refreshing
A Moment To Be Seen: melodic, deep

Will we see a Music Video for any of the tracks?
No.

What else can we expect in 2021?
Hopefully, the current situation prevails so that we can resume to playing more live shows in autumn and winter 2021.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
With an album on our backs.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
“Quotes are for influencers”

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
