What is your name?
Cihannur, however I go by “CHIANNE” as my artist name.

What is your genre of music?
Conscious Pop

Give us a little bio about you.
My journey with music began at the early age of six when I was taught to play classical piano. Coming from a family full of talented musicians, music was always a ubiquitous presence in my life. As a young adult, I earned a degree in International Relations and Fashion Design and began working in fashion around the world. My talent and love for music simply could not be held back. While living in Amsterdam and then Australia, I began to explore my passion for music more as a hobby, and that felt right, so I started to dive deeper into it. My path led me to Los Angeles, where I dreamed of becoming a singer and songwriter. Cultivating my passion, I never looked back.

What made you go into music?
My passion and desire to make music and to sing. It’s one of the main ways I can express myself, who I am, and I hope to inspire others through my voice and my messages. Being born in a family full of accomplished musicians from my mother’s side, I guess it was in my genes, and I just could not resist any longer 🙂 Music has always been my healer, my best companion in life, and I wanted to pay a tribute and give back to the music. It has given me so much. Music has been such a saviour for me.

Who are your influences?
Once one of my mentors said, “You sound like Celine Dion and Adele in terms of classical and classy vibes, combined with some Enya, ethereal spiritual vibes.” I love Birdy in terms of her sound and song writing. Natasha Beddingfield has inspired me with her inspiring positive motivational lyrics. Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston are my biggest influences in terms of singing. Also, the latest artists I resonate with are Rachel Platten and Tori Kelly. Australian singer-songwriter Delta Goodrem inspires me so much in terms of her branding, style, and sound. Similarly, I like Jewel and Leann Rimes, and Leona Lewis for their music, brand, and sound.

Are you signed?
I am independent. I have received some offers from various music labels, but so far staying independent made more sense for me. I have a manager and an agent, though.

You released your single ‘Truly Free’ , tell us more about the single.
I aim to make music that heals, inspires, and empowers; adding a layer to that, I incorporated reiki vocals into my music to send healing frequencies to listeners everywhere. For “Truly Free,” I drew upon my own experiences struggling with self-love and the pressure to conform to a society where I often felt not fitting in. “Truly Free,” captures my enlightening endeavour to explore my true self and reminds listeners to embrace their individuality.

What is the meaning behind the single?
I often felt like I was suppressing my true nature while doing what I felt was expected of me. I would look for validation outside of myself, seeking to figure out my self-worth and who I was through these limited perceptions and projections of the people around me. I internalized their voices as my own. The constant negative talk was holding me back from being my truest self. I was hindering my abilities, gifts, and talents. As my self-doubt and insecurities began to overflow, I went back and forth between following the path society and my family had paved for me versus the path my heart craved. I ultimately chose the path of my dreams, even though it felt lonely at times. “Truly Free” portrays my journey and what it felt like to embrace my truest, authentic self

What was the writing and recording process like?
I wrote this song more than a couple of years ago. It was the time I was struggling with believing in myself and my dreams, with insecurities around having self-love and self-worth. Writing this has definitely been a healing journey for me.

Describe the track in two words.
Authentic. Vulnerable. Inspiring. (Sorry it made 3 words, my inner rebel came through for a moment :p :))

Who did you work with on the single?
Kevin Anyaeji produced it, Nick Warner engineered, mixed & mastered.

Will we see a Music Video for the single and if so what can we expect
I am working on it, so hopefully yes!

Will we see an EP or Album and if so what can we expect?
I’ve been working on writing a lot of new songs during the quarantine. So my goal is to finish and produce them to share with the world.

What else can we expect in 2021?
More singles & shows 🙂

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
I have a pretty clear vision, but to be honest, one of the lessons I’ve learned in this journey is to surrender my will and desires to the Creator, so wherever I am meant to be, I will be. 🙂 I let go of the control and resistance, and it definitely helps me stay in the present moment and create from a pure space of non-resistance and with no expectations on the outcome. I can say I feel worthy of my dreams coming true, something I did not fully feel before, which led me in the cycle of self-fulfilling prophecy of not fully living my dreams.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
Cliché but, Be yourself, be authentic! Trust your gut! You are worthy as you are

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
Meditation, prayers and intention setting, my crystals, listening to special frequency music to calm my mind and ground myself into the moment, my heart 🙂

Do you have social media accounts so your fans can follow you?
