What is your name?
Hi, my name is Auggie Velarde!
What is your genre of music?
I make a mix of Pop, Electronic, and Hip Hop.
Give us a little bio about you.
I’m a Peruvian producer, songwriter, and artist based in Miami, Florida. I’m also a programmer and create contemporary digital art. I’m in love with technology and music. Through my work, I try to explore our emotions as humans that coexist in both natural and virtual realms.
What made you go into music?
I’ve always had love for music. However, that special spark for me appeared when my father brought home an iPod preloaded with approximately 3000 songs. As a child, I dedicated a major part of my time discovering and rating every single song in that iPod. By the end of my sonic journey, I had discovered a variety of genres, artists, legends, and gained a better understanding and appreciation for the creation of this art form. My parents bought me a keyboard instrument shortly after – and that was the start.
Who are your influences?
I have a bunch of influences coming from all sorts of places. Some of them are Porter Robinson, Sickick, Dylan Brady, NOK from the Future, Yung Lean, Daft Punk, UZ, Baauer, and honestly a lot more.
Are you a signed?
I’m fully independent. I run and manage my own record label, publisher, and music studio – The Wave Cache.
Your new release ‘Flare’ is out, tell us more about the single.
This song “Flare” which I made with blackwinterwells has some really raw lyrics of the kind of thoughts that go through my head constantly.
What is the meaning behind the single?
It’s about not giving up despite your odds. Hope and tenacity is all it takes; I believe in that wholeheartedly.
Who did you work with on the single?
Shoutout to blackwinterwells. I had the wonderful opportunity of working with wells on our song “Flare” and the creative process was magical to me. The experience keeps me inspired and motivated to this day.
Describe the track in two words.
Anthemic & Hopeful
What was the writing and recording process like?
It was such a smooth and effortless collaboration experience. The music, melody, everything just kind of fell into place every time something was added to the track. To me, it almost felt like the music took over and was the one instructing what had to be done, instead of the other way around.
We also see a lyric video for ‘Flare’, tell us more about the creative process?
I wrote the lyrics of that track when I was in a really dark place and every time I hear that song now it helps me reflect and look back on how far we have come. We’ll all get through this, like “light through the smoke”.
Will we see an official video for the song?
That’s something that I am considering. So the answer is, maybe for now haha
Will we see an EP or Album and if so, what can we expect from it?
Yes! It is in the works. My music is honestly just a representation of my journey as a human being, packed with emotions, experiences, experimentations, aspirations, and hopes that we can one day be less restricted to our biological expiration dates. You’ll find a lot of introspection and futuristic themes in my art.
What else can we expect in 2021?
Expect lots of new music, art, and achieved milestones.
Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
I am seeing myself in an upgraded studio room making music – with no other care in the world (just vibing and making music I can share with the world). That’s the dream at least haha
What quote or saying do you always stick by?
“Fake it till you make it” – I swear this really works lol
When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
My phone and laptop are the top two things I need honestly. Then I would add my audio interface, my Maschine MIDI controller, and my favourite Dynamic Microphone.
