What is your name?
Flo Gallop

What is your genre of music?
Pop/indie pop/hip hop

Give us a little bio about you.
22 years old. Born and bred south-east Londoner passionate about honest music and song writing. Live for the moment where you hear a killer lyric in a new tune. Love performing gigs and having a good time.

What made you go into music?
I was brought up around music, it was just a part of my life from the day I was born, my dad drenched us in music, singing and entertaining. He was in bands and gigged frequently. I just fell in love with entertaining making people have a good time through music. It just seemed like something I wouldn’t ever be able to get away from because its a part of me. Saturday’s were spent at the music shop near our house, dad was friends with the owner so we just hung about, saw behind the scenes etc and I think being engrossed in it you see the intricacy of every element. Music is now my happy escape I write to release. It’s a form of therapy.

Who are your influences?
I love Oasis, Tom Grennan, Lily Allen, Rex Orange County, Kate nash, Blondie, The Kooks, The Beatles, Dodie. Soooo many but chatty fun lyrics or a catchy tune, ill be ur fan forever!!!

Are you a signed?
I’m not, I have a wicked manager though.

You released your new single ‘21’, tell us more about the single.
21 is about me, it’s the only song I’ve ever written about me. It is a feel good track, I wanted to write a track where for that 3mins and 8 seconds you forget all your worries. I wrote it because I felt so behind all my friends in life and I needed a way to turn that into a positive and just for people to have a good time. You’re 21 there’s no time for dramas, worrying why a boy didn’t text u back or the fact that realistically you’re not raking the money in. Worry about that on a later date. Life is too short.

Describe the track in two words.
Fun and quirky. I always like to say it’s vibrant too so lets add that in!

What was the writing and recording process like?
The writing was sick, I wrote the track with one of my best mates and guitarist, Will Thomson. We hadn’t really decided we we were gonna write a song but I think we were both hungover from the night before and we started discussing ‘what is life’ as u do when you were sinking tequila the night before and then before ya know it 21 was born, just from a chat in the kitchen over a cuppa straight to a song. It’s almost like writing memories down so you don’t forget how you felt at a particular moment. The recording process was insane, to watch your track coming to life is seriously cool, I can’t explain it other than a whizzy butterfly feeling, it goes from bare bones to a real life song and its so quick. I always think that it’s the most unreal talent to be able to produce and Tom Fuller who produced the track is a serious legend so the whole process was just really fun and I’m so pleased I got to see it all happen.

Who did you work with on the single?
Will Thomson and I wrote the track and it was produced by Tom Fuller at a Tileyard and then mastered at Abbey Road by Christian Wright. For the music video I worked with Tobias Lever, Oliver Turner, Libby Bobe and my manager Jai Ramage has been and still is the glue sticking the whole thing together.

Will we see a music video for ‘21’, if so, what can we expect from it?
You certainly will and very soon, its gonna be just as fun as the song but also have some reference to my life. So there may or may not be an element of karaoke in it hahaha.

Will we see an EP or Album and if so, what can we expect from it?
There are 2 more singles coming and after those there will certainly be more music, who knows in what form yet but there will absolutely be more! This is the very start 😀

What else can we expect in 2021?
2 more singles, lots of fun and brightening up your lockdown/ After lockdown parties and reunions with friends and family. Stay in touch on my socials.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
Making music and entertaining people. That is always where I want to be.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
‘No one ever made a difference by being like everyone else’
(The greatest showman)

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
-my dancing shoes
-The sound engineers name, they are always the star of the show
-the lyrics!!!
