What is the band’s name?
SZNS
Give us a little bio about you.
We are four women in LA who all feel super passionate about making fun, hype, inspiring music. We got started together about a year ago and have been writing and singing together pretty much every day since.
What made you each want to go into music? Who are your musical influences?
I think all four of us have been musical kinda since birth? The special thing is that we all have really different musical backgrounds so we each bring something unique to our sound. I was raised on a lot of musical theater so I bring that storytelling vibe which is really nicely balanced out by Winter’s rock-inspired-sultry-indie-babe vibes. Summer grew up playing trumpet- she’s insanely good at it and plays on a lot of our tracks and Spring has just the most powerful intense vocals. (AUTUMN)
Part of the fun in being a group is we each have our own influences, so when we go into the studio and are pitching ideas we’ll be like, “ok tonally this song is like Billy Joel meets J-Lo, or One Direction meets Megan Thee Stallion.”
Are you signed?
Not yet! We’ve been enjoying developing together as a group and really figuring out our sound over the past year. We’re talking to a few labels now actually- we’re super hyped about growing the SZNS team!
You released your new single ‘Behave’, tell us more about the single.
Behave is the first song in my playlist, “Pop Bangers to Smash the Patriarchy to.” Behave is about kicking down doors and breaking norms and letting yourself be who you are no matter what polite society has to say about it. I know everyone has been told to “behave” at some point or other in their lives. (AUT)

Who did you work with on the song?
We wrote Behave with one of our favorite writers of all time, Marty James, and it’s produced by another GOAT, K-Kov.
What was the writing and recording process like?
Behave was one of the easiest songs we’ve ever written- I think because we all could relate so heavily to the message. We describe our writing process to be a lot like therapy, we first start talking about a concept and then spend an hour feverishly throwing down personal anecdotes and stories echoed by “wait he did WHAT?? Write that down right now” and pitching melodies to each other. We started cutting vocals that same day and though I love writing, when we record we have the most fun. Vocally I’m the softest of the squad so when it’s my turn to sing and I’m kinda nervous the other SZNS are in there hyping me up and dancing. (AUT)

Will we see an EP or Album in the future? and if so, what can we expect?
We’re planning on releasing four EPs, each named after and based on a SZN. Summer is energetic bangers, Autumn- a little more serious and lyrical, Winter- moody, deep, ballads, and Spring- super hot high tempo dance bops!
What else can we expect in Early 2021?
We don’t want to give too much away but definitely expect something we’ve never done before… The only hint I’m giving is you should get your power tools ready. (Autumn)

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
Driving up the PCH with the girls, I probably guilted them into a camping trip or something. We stop every 30 minutes because Spring has to pee but it’s ok because it’s such a lovely day and we’ve got nowhere to be. Summer is playing whichever radio station is within range because my aux cord doesn’t work and one of our songs comes on all staticky and broken up and we reminisce about 5 years ago when we wrote this. Wow why am I crying. (AUT)
In five years I hope we’re all still in the studio writing about boys and dancing to demos in the car on the way home. (Summer)
In 5 years I believe we will have at least 2 platinum records as band and a massive world tour we just finished (Spring)

-The words, water, to perform like no tomorrow, lucky underwear & maybe like a sweat towel haha (is this too much? Haha -winter)

-Deodorant, mascara, my swag , hoop earrings, and philz coffee – Spring
