Houston Bernard’s Country roots run deep. Born in Oklahoma, Houston is a direct descendant of famous gunfighter, George “Bittercreek” Newcomb, a member of the infamous ‘Wild Bunch’ a most wanted man in the 1890’s. Houston’s father and uncle played in country bands backing up stars like Tanya Tucker, Sleepy LaBeef and were a staple in the Oklahoma and Nashville scenes known as the Rebel Brothers. Reba recorded one of Johnny Bernard’s songs, “Muddy Mississippi” in the 80’s. Houston draws his musical inspiration from his family’s country and rockabilly roots. He brings upbeat, relatable music with his powerhouse vocals and a touch of country twang that transcends age, and resonates with a large audience. Houston has shared bills with country superstars like Luke Bryan, Old Dominion, Granger Smith, Montgomery Gentry, Marshall Tucker Band, and Clint Black. Popular on Spotify and YouTube, Houston has reached both new and established country fans. His music has been featured on Country Rebel, CMT, The Heartland, and The Country Network.
What made you go into music?
My father and family played music and I was drawn to it, and Im still at it years later loving it more every day.
Who are your influences?
Too many to list but a few that really stand out for me are Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Presley, Dwight Yoakam, John Mellencamp.

Your new single ‘People We Are’ is out now, tell us more about the single.
“I write a lot of my own music but I’m always open to recording others and when my manager asked me to listen to this song I knew it was right for me,” HOUSTON BERNARD says of his latest track, “People We Are,” which was released today due to growing demand and after the song’s popularity on Social Media. After sharing clips of the single on TikTok and other social media channels, Bernard began to see a growing number of fans sharing, requesting, and relating to the song. “People We Are” is written by Kim Penz (Lady Luck Publishing) and Cole Taylor (Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan, Cole Swindell) The single was produced in Nashville with Bill McDermott (George Strait, Tim McGraw, Vince Gill, Billy Currington, etc
What is the meaning behind the single and who did you work with?
“To me this story upholds all the philosophies and ethics of the Bernard family, growing up on the farm in Oklahoma generation after generation my Dad’s family was all about these standards: Doing the right thing, being self-sufficient, living within their means, and building something that will stand the test of time.” The song is now available worldwide on all streaming platforms and was added to New Music Nashville Spotify Editorial Playlist.

Im not sure yet, I have a ton of music ready to be recorded so its definitely a possibility.

I have a livestream full band event happening, Two different shows tickets are available here www.HoustonBernard.com/tickets Also, I do an acoustic Music Mondays on Facebook every week at 7pm EST and TikTok Tuesdays on Tik Tok every Tuesday at 7pm EST. Im hoping to book some more outdoor events this year as things hopefully open up.
