GET TO KNOW ALL ABOUT EMMA KELLY AND HER BRAND NEW SINGLE ‘DRUNK’ WHICH IS DROPPING JUNE 5TH, READ OUR CHAT BELOW!

What is your name?
My name is Emma Kelly

What is your genre of music?
 I make pop music

Give us a little bio about you.
I am a 22 year old singer songwriter from Surrey in the UK. I grew up listening to artists/bands like Queen and have always loved their different styles of writing. This led me to start writing from a young age going on to attend music school, introducing me to other people with similar dreams. I started to gig and write with other people which has led me to where I am today.

What made you go into music?
I started out in musical theatre and as I got older I realised that I was only interested in my singing lessons and wanting to sit down and write lyrics, when I finished school I knew I just wanted to pursue music.

Are you a signed?
 Nope, fully independent

You set to release your new single ‘Drunk’ tell us more about the single.
So drunk is a reflection on my thoughts on everything today. People are so obsessed by things like social media to the point people don’t notice their surroundings. The song is saying we’re all a little drunk on something.

What is the meaning behind ‘Drunk?
The songs meaning is simply an admittance to be able to say we’re all guilty of something but it’s okay. With things like social media people are constantly looking at their phones and don’t notice what’s going on around them, sometimes we can forget what’s real so the chorus is like a cry for attention from each other, we’re all a little drunk so let’s at least be together.

Describe the track in two words.
Drunk euphoria

Who did you work with on the Single?
I wrote the song with two other writers Jack Hawitt and James Lewis who also produced the song and then my friend Jasper ward who works at air studios mastered the track.

Will we see an EP or Album and if so what can we expect?
An ep is definitely in my plans, I want to do a couple more singles first but I hope to have one out next year.

Do you have any online shows coming up?
I have a charity online gig for warchild with hotvox on the 3rd of June, two days before the single release so that’s exciting.

If so where can we find the links?
https://tiltify.com/@emkelly/rising-featuring-emma-kelly here’s the link to my profile and the live stream link will be available on there on the day

What else can we expect in 2020?
More music and hopefully some live shows depending on what happens with everything going on

Do you have any collaborations coming up with any up coming artists?
A collab I did with a producer actually came out in April, it’s called misunderstood

Would you be up for collaborations if other musicians wanted one with you? and who would they  have to contact?
100% I’m always for collaborating with other artists I love it because you got so many idea ps being thrown about, just drop me a DMon instagram @emmakellymusic_ or you can message one of my managers  adam@lumebookings.co.uk or  josie@lumebookings.co.uk

Do you play any instruments?
I actually don’t play any instruments, I can play a couple chords on the piano but I’m far from a professional

Who are your influences?
My biggest influence by far is Freddie Mercury, a pure genius in my opinion someone who can write the most beautiful lyrics and melodies, can completely captivate an audience but was also such a good collaborator with the rest of band because each of them were/are incredible songwriters.

How do you get inspiration to write songs?
Inspiration for me changes all the time, if I’m in a session we can all just be chatting about anything currently going on and a song can come from that, sometimes I can hear something and be like that’s a good lyric and a song can come from that.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
In 5 years I definitely want to have put an album out, maybe 2, played across the world. I would like to have collaborated with certain people too.

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
I still work part time so that keeps me busy but I spend lots of time with my friends whether we’re going out or binging Harry Potter.

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?
I don’t think there was song in particular, I was very young when I knew what I wanted, however I did listen to bohemian rhapsody a lot mainly cause my dad and I loved dancing to it. I do remember one time when I was around 6 I got asked to do my first solo at my stage school, i think it was then when I actually sung in front of an audience I was like oh I really love this.

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
As cliché as it sounds it’s probably you’ve only got one life so put yourself forward for the things you wouldn’t want to do normally because you don’t where it can lead you. I have to tell myself that a lot because I get really anxious in new situations and if I talk myself out of it I could be missing out on a really good opportunity.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?
I’d say stay true to what you love making, if you’ve got an idea always finish it even if you’re not sure about it cause you might end up loving it.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
I can’t lie I’m not really a quote person but I do think if something doesn’t happen then it’s not meant to be but that doesn’t mean you should give up.

Where in your hometown is a must go to visit?
My village is definitely a place to visit on Boxing Day, we have a lot of pubs so every Boxing Day we have a pram race where groups design themes carts/prams, something that can move without an engine and then go from pub to pub and have a drink. It’s a glorified pub crawl but how can you not love that plus it’s Christmas and not much else goes around here.

Your coming off tour;
1/ Where do you go first?
I’d go home first
2/ Who do you see first?
see my dog and family
3/What do you eat first?
probably eat anything home cooked as I know I wouldn’t have got a lot of that whilst touring

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
My in ears, water bottle (shout out to my camelbak), hairspray because my hair has a mind of its own and no one wants whispy bits, my mic and headphones cause I need to listen to music to zone out before a gig.

Do you have social media accounts so your fans can follow you?
Yes my Instagram and twitter handle and my Facebook
