What is your names?
Hey! I’m Sierra! I go by sierraxsongs

What is your genre of music?
I’m a pop artist. I was a country artist for awhile, but just released a pop project and I’m riding that wave at the moment.

Give us a little bio about you.
I’m a former emo kid who didn’t fit in growing up. I started making music at a young age to escape and cope with the parts of my life that I didn’t like. And it just became my whole life.

What made you go into music?
My uncle Elliott always had bands growing up. I used to watch him play and I told him that someday that’s what I wanted to do. I’ve always been a writer. I started writing out my feelings when I was about 8 years old. They turned into songs, and that’s where it started.

Are you a signed?
I’m an independent artist. I do work with a management company, Perkin’s Publicity. They’re awesome.

What is the meaning behind ‘Voids’?
It was written kind of ironically, to twist the narrative back on him. Besides that, I think it’s something that we all do. We all use some kind of vice in life to cope. Whether that be drugs, alcohol, people, cleaning your house, exercising, whatever. In Voids, I’m filling my voids with this person — even though that wasn’t the case. 🙂

Describe the track in two words.
Absolute Banger ????

Who did you work with on the Single?
I worked with David “Messy” Mescon, Brett “Beats” Bailey, and Ryan Paige.

What was the writing and recording process like?
I wasn’t even supposed to be in Messy’s session that day. I woke up to a text from my manager at the time asking if I wanted the slot because another artist was sick and had to cancel. So I went in with some lyrics to the first verse, knowing I wanted the hook to be “I’m just filling voids.” Messy played a track that he had written with Brett, and I really loved it. So I just wrote to that, and we did a little demo of it, and I left. Then we didn’t touch it for a year. I just played it a few weeks ago to a friend and remembered how much I loved it, so we decided to just drop it!

Do you have any shows coming up?
Not at the moment! Thanks COVID!

What else can we expect in for the rest of 2020?
More pop music! I’m stoked to be in this new, unfamiliar territory. I feel like I have so much more room to run free as an artist in this genre.

Do you have any collaborations coming up with any up coming artists?
Possibly… 🙂

Would you be up for collaborations if other musicians wanted one with you? and who would they have to contact?
YES. Contact me or my manager, Trevor Perkins (Perkins Publicity).

Do you play any instruments?
 Guitar and piano!

Who are your influences?
Freddie Mercury, Alanis Morissette, Lady Gaga, Julia Michaels, Paramore, and probably a million others.

How do you get inspiration to write songs?
Life!!!

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
Oh man. Hopefully signed to a publishing company or a record label! That would be awesome. If not, just having a solid fan base of people who love my music would be enough for me. ❤️

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
Thrifting, plants, and DIY projects!! Those are my most favourite hobbies!

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?
I knew I wanted to be a singer the first time I heard Misery Business by Paramore. I used to scream it into the mirror every morning while getting ready for school. I always told myself I would be good enough for the radio when I could hit all of the notes in the chorus. (I can now;))

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
My mom always told us kids that we should live by the 3 L’s: No Lying, No Laziness, and Love the Lord. I still try and live by them to this day.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?
Be yourself. Don’t feel like you have to conform to a genre. I personally have always said genre killed the creative. I think wildly creative people shouldn’t have to just do ONE thing if they’re capable of/desire to do more. If you like country, pop punk, pop, do them all. Make it fun. It’s YOUR stamp on the world.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
“What other people think of you is none of your business”

Where in your hometown is a must go to visit?
The Exchange. It’s always a party.

Your coming off tour
I haven’t been on tour yet, but I’d love to!!
If anyone needs support, hit a girl up!!

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?

  1. Capo
  2. Guitar strap
  3. Picks
  4. Bottle of water
  5. The words to my songs 😉

Do you have social media accounts so your fans can follow you?
