ALT-COUNTRY/ AMERICANA AND ROCK SINGER-SONGWRITER ‘TOM GALLOWAY’ CHATS HIS NEW SINGLE ‘IF YOU NEVER WILL’ WORKING WITH HIS BUDDY ‘DANIEL ALLEN’ OF THE VEGABONDS AND MORE, READ IT HERE!

What is your name?
Tom Galloway

What is your genre of music?
Americana/Alt Country/ Rock

What made you go into music?
I’ve had a love for music since I can remember. My first recollection was as a child in our living room after dinner, playing Texas country bands Riders in the Sky and Asleep at the Wheel through the speakers. My father had a studio full of great records and instruments, I gravitated towards that room at an early age.

What is the meaning behind ‘If You Never Will?
It deals with the ups and downs of a fading relationship, the pain of heartbreak, but also the idea of moving forward optimistically

Describe the track in two words.
Self worth

Tell us more about the writing and recording for the track.
I co-wrote this one with my buddy Daniel Allen, frontman for the band The Vegabonds. Around this time, my band was scheduled to go into Southern Ground Studios to record a 5 song EP and this song was added last minute to the mix. So we squeezed 6 songs into the sessions and it ended up being one of my favorites, which is why I wanted to release it first. Looking forward to releasing the rest of the tracks this year, as well.

Will we see a music video for the track?
Yes, we’ve got a video we’ll be premiering in March.

Will we see an EP or Album this year?
Yes – we recorded a 6 song EP we’ll be releasing a few singles from and the full EP will be coming out later this year .

Do you have any shows coming up? If so, where will you be heading?
Yes, several writers rounds and full band shows around town this spring. Check out updates through my social media and website.

What else can we expect in Early 2020?
We’ll be following up with another single called, “Mercy of Your Mood” that I’m really excited about because it has a completely different feel from “If You Never Will.” It will be cool to compare the reception of both songs. Also expecting a music video release for that tune, as well.

Do you have any collaborations coming up with any up coming artists?
Always trying to play and co-write with different folks in town, that’s part of the thing in Nashville, although I’ve always naturally found myself writing solo. This record has some special guests from members of Moontaxi, CBDB, Ladycouch, Sicard Hollow, and other fantastic bands based out of Nashville.

Would you be up for collaborations if other musicians wanted one with you?
Absolutely!

Do you play any instruments?
Guitar is my main instrument, however I grew up on the drums and will write with a piano a good bit.

Who are your influences?
Neil Young, Grateful Dead, Tom Petty, JJ Cale, John Prine

How do you get inspiration to write songs?
I’ve always got the songwriting filter going on in my head. I’m always hearing things that pop out to me as lyrics, or reading things that inspire. A lot of it is therapeutic, emotional release. I like the challenge behind the process, and nothing beats the feeling when you’ve come up with a great new song.

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?
There isn’t one song in particular, I was really into classic rock as a kid and the music that came out between the 60s and 70s was truly something special and has always influenced my style.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?
Use your artistic intuitions, stay patient and positive in your process, develop a habit of writing daily but don’t force anything

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
“Pursue some path, however narrow and crooked, in which you can walk with love and reverence.” -Henry David Thoreau

Where in your hometown is a must go to visit?
Ryman Auditorium
