What is your name?
Jake Aldridge

What is your genre of music?
Throughout my career, I have always been a rapper, making hip-hop/r&b songs. I am currently going through a transitional period where I’m having singing lessons and plan to make a series of Country-Pop songs.

Give us a little Bio about you?
I have been writing and recording for 15 years. My Father passed away when I was young so I was always looking for a way to express myself. This is how I got into song writing. I began keeping a diary and would write down my thoughts about everyday life. These thoughts turned into poems and eventually songs. Heavily inspired by Rap music at the time, it felt natural to perform my songs in that style. The trouble was, I had zero rhythm and couldn’t even nod my head in time with a Drum beat, let alone make my songs fit. With years of hard work, and lots of help from many great music producers, I manage to defy the odds by later becoming a multi award winning music artist.

Are you signed?
No. Sometimes people presume I am, which is a big compliment I guess, but I’ve always been independent.

Who are your influences?
Right now, I am influenced by a lot of country-pop music. I like Kane Brown, Dan+Shay, & Jonny Zye, along with many others.

Where does your inspiration come from when writing songs?
My lyrics come from many different life experiences such as my fathers passing, previous relationships, my current relationship and my wild imagination of course.

What are you working on right now?
At the moment, I’m working on a new song which is called ‘Partners In Crime’. It has an upbeat Country-Pop vibe. It features Leanne Louise, was produced by Matt Knight and co-written by myself and David Booth.

What is the meaning behind the single?
It’s basically a song about two people having a great night out, having fun and letting their hair down.

Describe the song in two words.
Playful & Mischievous

What was the writing process like?
Difficult! I am still getting used to writing as a singer and not a Rapper. I took this song to music producer and multi-instrumentalist, David Booth. I showed him my ideas and it was kind funny because he politely told me that rhythmically it was perfect, but melodically, it was all over the place! From there, he mapped out the melody’s based on my rough ideas and just like that, we had the song.

What was the recording process like?
Well I had just begun having singing lessons which eventually helped me to revise and record the song. Originally, David recorded the vocals himself, for me to try and follow. It took a few weeks but every time I went to him, I was getting closer and closer which was kind of cool. I somehow managed to persuade the amazing Leanne Louise to come and record backing vocals for us too. She’s a talent who everyone will soon be familiar with, I am sure! It was pretty cool to sit back and watch her and David do what they do best.

Will we see a music video for this song?
Absolutely. I always like to do a music video for my releases. Video content captures the listeners attention and can often help them get to know the meaning of the song. I am currently going back and fourth on ideas with The Camera Guys, who are a video production company from Sudbury.

What can we expect from you in 2020?
Lots more music! I am putting my focus into releasing more music in 2020. David and I are recording an acoustic version of ‘Partners In Crime’ with Jess Simmons and I am also teaming up with Argentinian based music producer Dam Dominici. You know he’s got a catchy name when my Girlfriends 5 year old boy is repeating it whilst in the bath! Dam is incredible at what he does and his work ethic Is much like mine so we make a great team and I’m so excited about what we are creating. I can see a long-term partnership forming here. He’s become my go to guy when I’m stuck or need advice about pretty much anything musically.

When you’re not doing music, what do you like to do?
I love spending time with my girlfriend, Lisa. We’ve only been together for 2 years now but I’ve always known she’s the one! I’m also a big Chelsea fan and enjoy following them. My poor neighbour’s must wish I was a less passionate supporter.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
“He who dares wins”. You’ve gotta love Only Fools and Horses.

Where can we find out more about you online?
The best place is my website, fans can find my music, videos, merchandise, motivational podcast, links to social media and more.
