What are your names?
Anelise and Fabio

What is the band’s name?
Yur Mum

How did you come up with the band’s name?
In a rush, drunkly during a rehearsal.

What is your genre of music?
 Rock and stuff.

Give us a little bio about you.
We both come from Brazil. We love live music, especially rock and we’ve been in the UK for 10 years now.  Yur Mum was born 4 years ago. We used to be in a different band. Our friend Akos kept asking us to go for a jam, so we did.

What made you go into music?
 Pleasure.

Are you signed?
We have a deal for the first album. Who knows what the future will bring…

You released your new EP ‘Ellipsis’ tell us more about the EP.
This release is happening during a transition period for us and we suppose that can be noticed on the lyrics. The overall . reception has been really positive, and people have been quite vocal about it at gigs and online.

What is the meaning behind the EP?
Nothing premeditated, just life taking its course with its ups and downs… online.

Describe each track in two words.
What do you want?:  Anxiety – Catharsis / Sweatshop : Superfluous – Angst / Ellipsis: Society – Regression / Rotten: Rotten – Reality / Closure: Closure – Regret

What was the writing process like?
Slow but organic.

What was the recording process like?
It was quite smooth, we had crafted most of these tracks on the road and when we decided to record them we felt quite comfortable.

Who did you work with on the EP?
AnchorBaby Recordings – Dan Lucas was our fourth member.

Do you have any shows coming up?
Many. www.yurmum.com We’ll soon announce what’s gonna happen in 2020 🙂

If so where will you be heading?
In Jan these are the ones already confirmed:

IceBreaker Festival Southsea
Bristol The Old England
Brighton The Hope & Ruin

What else can we expect in 2019/Early 2020?
Well, we got quite a few plans but only time will tell what will really happen.

Do you have any collaborations coming up with any upcoming artists?
We’ve had a great experience with Lips Can Kill Tour which involved 3 other bands from London (Healthy Junkies, Pollypickpocketz and Tokyo Taboo). It worked so well we are considering a 2nd tour in 2020.

Would you be up for collaborations if other musicians wanted one with you? and who would they have to contact?
Sure thing. www.yurmum.com

Who are your influences?
a: They change all the time, I’ve been listening a lot to new bands, and Idles and L7…but I love to listen to new sounds, creativity inspire me.

How do you get inspiration to write songs?
 Life. Real experiences and feelings.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
Still playing in a band, hopefully making a living from it mainly.

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
Apart from the band we have 9-5s… We don’t usually have a lot of spare time, but when we do, we try to spend it with friends, family, and chilling.

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more into the music scene?
Anelise: Cannot remember a specific song, but The Cranberries got me into looking for more music with Zombie. – Fabio: When I was a teen I felt like most musicians seemed too perfect. I remember watching a Nirvana VHS at a friend’s and I loved how they didn’t give any fucks and made mistakes. It made music seem more human and possible to someone like me.

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
Anelise: All the cliches…but they are good so…Be your self…don’t give up…Fuck what others think of you! – Fabio: To me music is an eternal journey. You’ll never make it, you’ll never achieve perfection, but you should always have fun and learn more in the process.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?
Do it for yourself, learn from your mistakes as quickly as possible because it won’t get any easier.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
Don’t do to others what you don’t want others to do unto you.

Where in your hometown is a must go to visit?
 The Coast.

You’re coming off tour;
1/ Where do you go first?
 Shower
2/ Who do you see first? No one.
3/What do you eat first? Whatever is still good in the fridge, or take away.

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
Gear, Ear plugs, Gum, water, beer.

Do you have social media accounts so your fans can follow you?
