How did you come up with the bands names?
We used to have another name… It was the name of a very famous beach in California. Unfortunately, there is another band named that so we just found the closest city to it what sounded alright!
What is your genre of music?
Pop mainly. We may stray into other genres on the occasion but its mainly Pop.
Give us a little bio about you.
We are Citrus Heights, a four-piece British Pop band. We are constantly writing and producing music at the same time as performing around the UK.
What made you go into music?
We all found a common thirst for writing music a few years ago and decided to try tackle music as a band. After receiving enough motivating feedback from our local community, we started working even harder to improve our sound.

You released your new single ‘Weekend’, tell us more about the single.
WEEKEND is a rapid, racing song influenced by the numerous moments that we have experienced and spectated when we join in on the antics that the weekend brings. This track features a modern production style and is upbeat with sounds reminiscent of Senorita by Justin Timberlake. this song will be supported by a full PR campaign and UK tour in November.
What is the meaning behind the single?
The song is a kind of commentary on what happens when people binge their way through the weekend. Some of the songs moments are personal and other parts of the story are based on what i have seen happen to other people. I’m sure most of us can relate to the outlandish things that can happen when we over indulge.

Absolutely massive.
What was the writing process like?
The writing process was extremely quick at first as we found the feel of the song very easily. But this song idea was actually left to the side for a few months until we decided to make something of it for the band. It was at this point that the song started changing and becoming more personal and special to us.
What was the recording process like?
This one has been done in house. Ben is a producer outside of band so it made sense to use our own studio resources and really be in control of the song. We tend to work well under pressure so once we had the release date set it was full steam ahead. We faced a lot of challenges in producing this ourselves, but we know that it’s necessary for our own development and helps us to aim higher.
Who did you work with on the single?

Will we see a music video for of the tracks?
Only time will tell.. Maybe when it gets to number one then we can think about it 😉
Will we see an EP or Album this year?
No EP’s or Albums set for this year. Hopefully WEEKEND picks up some steam and puts us in a position to work towards something bigger. We have more songs and even more ideas for release at some point in 2020.
Do you have any shows coming up?
We have a lot of shows coming up! The next one we are due to play is supporting Honeyblood at the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds on the 2nd of November. Cannot wait for that! We also have a tour in November to support the release so all the details will be all over our socials soon!
If so where will you be heading?
We are heading to Newcastle, London, Sheffield and of course our hometown Leeds!
What else can we expect in 2019?
For the rest of the year we will be focusing on the shows supporting WEEKEND and then it will be back to writing for the next one.
Do you have any collaborations coming up with any up coming artists?
We don’t however we would definitely be up for doing some!

Who are your influences?
Our influences come from all over and its hard to really pin down anything specific as we listen to a hugely diverse library of music.
How do you get inspiration to write songs?
Listening to old and new songs, hearing chords or melodies and forming ideas around that. We just look for musical triggers to spark ideas from listening to loads of music. Other times it can just be a case of capturing a current mood and finding a way to channel that into a song idea.
Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
…Still making music in whatever capacity makes sense for us, Without a doubt! When you’re not doing music, what do you do? We work to fund ourselves at the same time as being fixated on our craft. When possible we make sure to let loose with friends and family. What was the song you listened to most …
When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
alot of boring jobs to help support ourselves financially. But really we all spend a lot of time being creative together and on our own within music.
What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more into the music scene?
Well each of us definitely have our own massive and specific influences. Back when we started it’s hard to place this inspiration on a specific song but I remember that we all really enjoyed The Neighbourhood and Michael Jacksons music at that time. These are just a minuscule fraction of our inspirations though to be honest.
What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
Always stick to what you want to do, don’t feel like you have to write a certain way or do certain things to ‘make it’. It’s what you enjoy doing what will end up getting you the furthest!
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?
Stay true to yourself, and always have a clear goal of what sort of direction you want to head in. Just leave it nice and free flowing when it comes to the writing.
What quote or saying do you always stick by?
I cant really say we are the type to hold onto quotes or sayings. we spend more time quoting stupid videos we’ve seen on YouTube than anything else.
Where in your hometown is a must go to visit?
The Corn Exchange is always a good shout! or the Royal Armories. You can always stop by Belgrave and get some very nice pizza. The Brudenell Social Club is a great spot for new music and a drink.

1/ Where do you go first?
definitely bed, you cannot beat your own bed.
2/ Who do you see first?
The parents and possibly friends but everyone is so busy these days.
3/What do you eat first?
Anything that’s covered in cheese and takes minimal brain power to prepare…. basically pizza.
