What is your name?
Kacey 🙂

What is your genre of music?
Pop

Give us a little bio about you.
I’m a pop artist born & raised in NYC. I’ve been singing since I could talk and writing music since I was 13. I’m fortunate enough to have played my original music around NYC growing up, until I went to Berklee College of Music. When I moved to Nashville in 2017, I found myself completely immersed in the pop scene and started to create the music that I’m putting out today!

What made you go into music?
I always loved singing and writing. Once I combined those two passions through songwriting, I knew that pursuing music was something I had to do. “

Are you a signed?
Nope! I’m an independent artist.

You released your new single ‘Jealous’, tell us more about the single.
I always want to be real in my music, even if that means letting listeners in on everything I’m feeling. “Jealous” is me revealing a not-so-cute side of myself, and the overthinking and anxiety that often creep into my relationships.

Describe the track in two words.
Unapologetically honest.

What was the writing process like?
The song was written pretty quickly, almost as if it sung itself to me! I heard the melody first and wrote the lyrics next. I finished it that night and actually started the track with my producer, Michael Robinson, the next day.

What was the recording process like?
It came together in the studio perfectly. Michael and I had a clear vision for the production from day 1, so it was easy to collaborate and build the track from there!

Who did you work with on the single?
I wrote the song by myself, then Michael Robinson added his magic to the production!

Will we see a music video for the single?
Maybe not a video, but you’ll definitely hear an acoustic version 🙂

What else can we expect in 2019?
You can expect to hear more new music, and an EP in 2020!

Would you be up for collaborations if other musicians wanted one with you? and who would they have to contact?
Yes, I’d be down! They can contact me through social media or my website (kaceyv.com).

Do you play any instruments?
Yes! I play guitar and piano.

Who are your influences?
I’ve always been influenced by whatever’s trending in pop music, but specifically the badass females in pop – Zara Larsson, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Julia Michaels, and many more!

How do you get inspiration to write songs?
I write about experiences that impact me, and that cause me to feel deeply – whether it’s good or bad.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
I see myself continuing to create music, and hopefully on tour!

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
I’m a voice teacher as well, so I spend a lot of time singing with my students. And if I’m being honest, I’m also probably watching Friends!

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more into the music scene?
“Elastic Heart” by Sia! I never get tired of that song, and it made me fall in love with pop even more.

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
To trust my gut!

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians, not about the industry, and just as an artist?
I’d say focus on yourself and your art. It’s easy to play the comparison game, but just remember to listen to yourself first and create what makes YOU proud. The rest will fall into place.

What quote or saying do you always stick to?
Don’t be afraid to fail.

Where in your hometown is a must-go to visit?
Anywhere in Manhattan! But the West Village is my personal fave.

You’re coming off tour:
1. Where do you go first? Literally any place that has pizza…
2. Who do you see first? Definitely my dog 🙂

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
My guitar, my phone, my lipstick, my camera, and my jacket! I’m always cold.

Do you have social media accounts so your fans can follow you?
