Dina Renee is an upcoming pop artist originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, and currently based in Los Angeles, CA. She grew up performing and playing piano which led her to write catchy pop songs and release her first single “All in Front of You.”   She is highly influenced by artists such as Britney Spears, Sia, and Mariah Carey who she grew up listening to and also motivated her to pursue her artist career.  Her unique vocal style is a blend of retro pop and catchy hooks that will be stuck in your head.

Are you a signed?
I sign   songs individually but I’d love to be signed by a major label.

Your set to drop your new single ‘What Im Not Gonna Do’, tell us more about the single.
It’s a fun summer song that has a strong empowering message.

What is the meaning behind the single?
Everyone has been In a relationship that isn’t good for them at one point or another. It’s a song about finally moving on with your life and not making the same mistakes with relationships.

Describe the track in two words.
Catchy, empowering

What was the writing process like?
So much fun -we wrote the song in 45 mins. Literally had the feeling as soon as I got to the studio that this is what I wanted to write about- getting out of a bad relationship

What was the recording process like?
I love working with Aj After Party he’s a good friend of mine and is a perfectionist like me. He really helped me get a different style to my voice this time around that is more “me.”

Who did you work with on the single?
Brooke Williams co wrote the track with me. She’s incredible.

Will we see a music video for the track?
Yes. I’m so excited.

Will we see an EP or Album and if so, what can we expect?
Since I’m an indie artist I will just have singles coming out until I sign a recording contract.

Do you have any shows coming up?
Yes I have many shows coming up month around Hollywood.

If so where will you be heading?
Local hotspots in LA -check on my website for details.

What else can we expect in 2019?
More music to be released every few months! More photo shoots/music videos/ more merchandise. More art in general. I’ve been a painter/graphic designer since I was very young so I really want to incorporate that into my artist merchandise. I just sold out of my t shirts. It was really fun designing my merchandise. I’ve designed all my single covers so I’m excited to finally put that on actual merchandise.

Do you have any collaborations coming up with any up coming artists?
I’m hoping to collaborate with my best friend Alexandra Fresquez on a track soon. She’s amazing.

Would you be up for collaborations if other musicians wanted one with you? and who would they have to contact?
Of course. Can anyone call Britney Spears? That would be my dream.

Do you play any instruments?
I play piano by ear and trying to learn the guitar

Who are your influences?
Growing up it was Mariah Carey , Britney Spears, Sheryl Crow, the Spice Girls

How do you get inspiration to write songs?
I can get inspiration at any point-I’ve been writing most of my songs as I’m driving (probably not the safest idea)

On tour, writing songs all the time, constantly making music -same as now but signed to an amazing label

I love photography-doing my friends’ hair and make up and styling them and taking their photo- that is one of my favourite things to do besides music or traveling with friends.

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?
“Baby One More Time” it’s still my favourite song 20 years later

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
Everything is hard until you do it. -my sister said this to me once and it sounds so simple but I always make things harder than they are. You have to just trust that you can do anything you set your mind to.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?
Follow your gut instinct- trust your judgement it’s easy to get in your head and think your ideas aren’t good enough- that you aren’t ready or good enough but the time is now. Put yourself out there. You can be everything you always wanted to become.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
“Be yourself, don’t be anybody else.” (Yes I just quoted myself)
