What is your name?

My civil name is Jitka Martiriggiano, but call me Giudi

What is your genre of music?

I used to say it´s deep pop or dark pop with electronic sounds but let´s say we can classify it as alternative pop

Give us a little bio about you.

GIUDI is Czech born alt-pop artist and songwriter. In 2017 her debut EP Reborn To Be was released, produced by Brent Kolatalo (Kendrick Lamar, Lana Del Rey, Lorde). The EP included the two successful singles Seaside and Into The Woods which were heavily rotated on the radio. In 2018, Giudi received the prestigious music award, the silver Discovery of the Year in Czech Republic.

GIUDI is known for her strong sense of visual aesthetics, reflected by her music videos, involving some of leading new fashion designers and artists.

What made you go in to music?

Music was for me always the way to escape from the reality to my imaginary world.

You have a new your single ‘Tribe’ , tell us more about the single. What is the meaning behind the Single?

With my new single I want the promote the uniqueness and beauty of each human being.

What was the writing process like?

First of all I had a vision and I knew what I want to talk about. I wrote a story, basic chords and melody. I brought it to my producer Nic Coolidge who built a whole sound-design, and then together we took a bit of time to play with the instruments to find and create the atmosphere that I felt was right.

What was the recording process like?

Music and vocals we’ve recorded in Faust Records Studios in Prague. Master and mix I’ve sent to Italian sound engineer and producer Giuseppe Petrelli who I found thanks to my friends electronic duo called ‘Inude’.

Who did you work with on the Single with?

American producer Nic Coolidge.

Will we see a EP or Album this year?

I’m making an album this year, but for now I am releasing singles.

If so what can we expect?

You can expect that Giudi will bring the new wave of energy and some really good vibes this year.

Do you have any shows coming up or a tour in planning?

At this moment we are organising an Italian tour and hopefully the UK soon. In Czech Republic I am gonna be part of Baťa Fashion Week which I am very excited.

What else can we expect in 2019?

Definitely new music and new visuals

Would you be up for collaborations if other musicians wanted one with you? and who would they have to contact?

Of course, they can contact me through my management.

Do you play any instruments?

I play a bit of guitar

Who are your influences?

It´s hard to tell some concrete names, because I feel that the environment where I grew up and everything what I saw and heard in my life influenced me in some way.

How do you get inspiration to write songs?

It always happens late night. I need to be alone with myself, relaxed with my inner space, only at that time I can hear voices in my head and feel my true feelings.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?

Touring all around the world

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?

I am very curious person. I like to taste and see everything in my life so probably I will be on my travels or trying some new sport or new restaurant

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?

The Cranberries song “Ode To My Family” was an inspiration to make me really start to make music.”  

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?

It has been maybe from my spiritual mentor, musician and my friend Oto Klempir, he told me once: Everything happens for some reason and everything takes its own time. Just be patient and continue doing what you love the most. He was right.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?

I would say just be yourself because there is no one better. When you are on stage forget about everything, just enjoy that moment.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?

Happy mind, happy life

Where in your hometown is a must go to visit?

That´s the nice question. I was born in a small town in the west of Bohemia called Rokycany. I would recommend to take a walk on the outskirts of the city, where the nature is beautiful and go to see the view from “Kotel Hill”, afterwards come down in the old centre and eat some local delicacies in the sweet-store and bakery.
