SELF DESCRIBING ‘BORED’ AS FIERCE AND DOMINATING AND WE TOTALLY AGREE, I CHAT WITH POWERHOUSE POP ARTIST ‘BROOKE ALEXX’ ALL ABOUT IT RIGHT HERE, READ IT NOW!

What  is your name?

Brooke Alexx

What is your genre of music?

Pop

Give us a little bio about you.

Show-stopping, head-turning, powerhouse pop singer Brooke Alexx is no stranger to the stage. Fostered by a childhood career in musical theater, Brooke’s voice has been compared in strength and range to Alicia Keys, JoJo, and Demi Lovato, but features distinct rich, velvety undertones. The New Jersey native is writing radio-ready earworms and diving head-first into the R&B-infused synth-pop sound she was always destined to have. Bridging hard work and natural-born talent, Brooke is on a mission to make her name known in Music City’s bubbling pop scene.

What made you go in to music?

My family avidly watched American Idol when I was growing up, so the idea of becoming an overnight popstar was never far from my mind. I was heavily involved with musical theatre until I discovered Taylor Swift in 8th grade and then realized I, too, could learn guitar and write my own songs.

Are you a signed?

No

Your set to release your new single ‘Bored’ ‘ tell us more about the single.

Simply put, “Bored” is a tongue-in-cheek bop about a hot dude who’s just plain booooring. Minimalistic vocoder in the pre-chorus leads to a full, high-intensity drop. Reminiscent of Taylor Swift’s “Reputation” album, the song is fierce, blunt, and dominating – great for getting ready for a night out, jamming in the car, or generally feeling like a badass aka girl power vibes. It’s got a steady, driving beat, but keeps you on your toes with unique sections making up an eclectic pop landscape. You won’t get bored listening to “Bored.” This single is the follow-up to recent release “Lemonade” and the second lined up for Brooke’s 2019 EP release, set for late this year.

What is the meaning behind the single ‘Bored’.

I was seeing this guy who was super hot, but never had anything interesting to say – over text, specifically. I would try to joke around and he just didn’t get it.

Describe the track in two words.

Fierce, dominating

What was the writing process like?

I went into a writing session with Chase Coy (aka CHSR) with the song title and the idea for the word “bored” to hit high and then low in the chorus, but Chase helped me shape my thoughts into what the song is today. After we made the demo, it didn’t feel quite right, but I really loved what we had so far. So I reached out to my producer, Yuval Maayan, to see what he could come up with and he sent me back a DOPE track that is very close to what you hear now, and when I heard it, I was confident “Bored” was going to be my next single.

What was the recording process like?

Chase was the recording engineer for the final track and he’s super talented, so the session went off without a hitch. Going into the final chorus, I suggested having me sing the last line of the bridge an octave up and it was exactly what we needed to ramp up the song at that point! A lot of people have since told me that’s their favorite part! We ended up using some of the vocals from the demo because they were already so fitting.

Who did you work with on the single with?

I wrote and recorded the single with Chase Coy and the track was produced and mixed by Yuval Maayan. Chris Gehringer mastered the final audio.

Where can we buy the Single from?

All platforms!

Will we see an EP or Album this year?

Yes!! “Bored” is the second single set for my first-ever EP – the first being my previous single, “Lemonade.” The EP will drop toward the end of the year.

Do you have any shows coming up or a tour in planning?

No tour planning yet, but definitely shows in Nashville. I’ll be putting on an EP Release Show when the full EP drops. For now, check out my website (www.brookealexx.com) for upcoming local performances.

What else can we expect in 2019?

One more single after this one!

Would you be up for collaborations if other musicians wanted one with you? and who would they have to contact?

I’m toying with the idea of some remixes. If any producers are interested, feel free to reach out to my email: brookealexxmusic@gmail.com.

Do you play any instruments?

Guitar, and a bit of piano

Who are your influences?

Tove Styrke’s sound is hugely influential production- and style-wise for me right now. Taylor Swift will always be the OG. I would say “Bored” is actually pretty reminiscent of her “Reputation” album.

How do you get inspiration to write songs?

I prefer to write about my own life – I tend to like those songs better because they’re more personal. I also draw inspiration from unique title!

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?

Ideally, touring around the country with a decent-sized fanbase.

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?

I’m also a photographer and videographer. I love shooting other artists and weddings! These skills definitely come in handy with my own music, as I’m able to brand myself digitally.

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?

When I was in 8th grade, I stumbled upon the music video for “Love Story” by Taylor Swift and that song/video changed my life. I’d never seen a girl so young writing her own music. Shortly after, I began guitar lessons and writing songs. After college, I moved to Nashville to continue pursuing my dream.

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?

“If you’re not nervous, you don’t care enough about it” – Zac Efron in an interview about auditions

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and  just as an artist?

Put on music. You can always take it down later. But you grow the most in your artistry by just jumping in and going for it.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?

“If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough.”

Where in your hometown is a must go to visit?
