What is your genre of music?
Give us a little bio about you.
I’m 15 years old and I love creating music. I aim to create tracks that can last for years and never get old. Songs that you could listen to in any kind of circumstance, when you’re sad, happy, angry. My goal is to make songs unlike the disposable pop tracks of today and refresh listeners while also maintaining the familiar sounds of pop.
What made you go in to music?
I’ve wanted to do music for my whole life. I always aspired to be on stage or in a studio writing my next track. I can’t really explain how I got into music because the truth is I don’t remember a time without it.
Can you tell us more about your song 3-2-1.
3-2-1 is my debut studio single. When I first started writing the song I had a clear vision of a party environment with Christmas lights and a crowd of people. On the surface the song is about seeing the girl you really like at a party and trying to work up the courage to talk to her. You have imagined yourself with her for so long and hope she feels the same way. I feel like the song captured the tension of the moments leading up to asking out a girl you’ve liked for a while with lines like, “the truth is I’m nervous, I’m shaking, like nothing I have ever known”.
Who did you work with on the Single?
I worked with Jordan Wright and Andrew Leigh from City of Sound
Will you be doing a tour or any live dates?
I’ve been working on a few dates in my area to start, including a show I’ll be opening for on March 15th in Albany, New York. I’d love to travel to other places as well sometime soon I hope.
If so, where can more information be found.
More information on tour dates or updates on new songs or march can all be found at imjustincharles.com or on any social media platforms.
Can we expect an EP?
I’m focusing on releasing singles as of right now
What else can we expect from you for the rest of year?
You can expect to hear lots of new music throughout the rest of the year and a ton more shows. I feel like my next few songs I’ll be putting out soon are a great representation of who I am as a person which I’m really proud of.
Do you play any instruments?
Lately I’ve been trying to learn the basics of guitar.
Who are your influences?
I’m influenced by Ariana Grande, Ruel, Sigrid, Lea Michele, and Shawn Mendes and people along those lines. I admire how they’re so hands on and in control of what they puts out there. I feel like many artists are obviously very fabricated in this time, as an artist who takes music seriously it’s important to be true to yourself and make your music as authentic as possible. I feel like fans can since when something is fabricated or if it comes from the heart.
How do you get inspiration to write songs?
I get inspiration from anything and everything around me, my own life experiences, movies, tv, pictures, or even a random person I see on walking on the street.
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
I love making music, I always have. I hope to still be doing that. I want to make music that makes me happy, always. It’s an outlet, I feel like it always will be. I hope to see my music help others with something they’re going through or admire the way I make music just like I admire the musicians I saw when I was younger.
When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
When I’m not making music you’ll probably see me playing tennis, shopping, or just hanging out with my family… or eating, I love eating.
What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
The magic that once was can always be recaptured in some form or another.
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?
Stay positive and surround yourself with the best people possible, Ive trained myself to keep re-evaluating the people in my life and cut out the toxic people in my life.
