FROM OUR LAST CHAT IN 2017 TO NOW 2018 , WARD AND I HAVE CATCH UP ALL ABOUT THEIR NEW SINGLE WHICH IS SET TO DROP AND THEIR SOLD OUT SHOW IN MEXICO!

Hey Ward, how have you guys been?
I (Ward) have been doing great! Been very busy in 2018.

Introduce yourselves for new readers/fans.
I’ve been playing with a fantastic live band: Mauricio Munguia on guitar, Chris Gongora on bass and Darren Edwards on drums.

We last chatted last year when you had your EP ‘The Four’ was out, how was the reaction to the release?
Fantastic. We played 17 live shows in 2017, which was a lot for us. Definitely starting to build a following.

What else have you been up to since?
In 2018, I released 4 new singles so far and am set to release a new on Nov 9. As well, we have a big sold-out show in Mexico City this Nov 17. We can’t wait to play for our fans in Mexico.

Your new single ‘Slowfast’ is set to drop on the 9th November 18, tell us more about it.
The song focuses on the struggle to break free of a life dominated by family patterns and expectations. “It’s a modern re-write of one of the king’s monologues from Richard II”, explains Ward, who has an acting background and performed in the Oxford Shakespeare Company’s production of Richard II in Wales in 2017. “I have always wanted to write a song from a historical figure’s perspective, and the message here felt just as relevant as ever.”

What was the writing and recording process like?
We do everything fast and furious and, as usual, out of order. In fact the video was shot before the recording was done. In fact, the musicians were still tracking parts after the first video edit was complete. Most of the song was done last December, but it took a year to get back to it as a single release…I am not exactly sure why. Gotta work on finishing things faster and more efficiently I guess.

Describe the track in two words.
Be yourself

How is this single different to your other releases
Two reasons: 1) this song is written from another person’s perspective so the lyrics came from a different empathetic place. 2) usually I play bass, guitar all the instruments. This time we have a few other people adding more life and variance into the music, which I love

You have huge headline show coming up in Mexico, tell us more about the event and how the opportunity came about.
It’s completely because of the encouragement and support of hundreds of fans in Mexico. Over the last year, fans in Mexico kept asking for a live show, and when we announced, they helped promote the show to their friends and networks. Soon we had hundreds interested EVEN BEFORE BOOKING A LOCATION. Event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/222624105010091/ The level of genuine love and support for my music from Mexico has been overwhelming and I can’t wait to play there again.

Do you have any more shows in planning or a tour maybe?
2019 is going to be a packed year of live shows. We’d love to play a tour in the UK if any bands are interested in helping us arrange a tour, we’d love that.

will we see an EP or Album before the year is out.
Unfortunately no. The next thing for us is probably a 4 EPs in 2019, one per quarter. Which will be really fun I think.

What else can we expect from you.
My music is my own and I know it’s not mainstream Spotify fare. I will stay true to that music, because the biggest reward is finding people who love my music for what it is. That’s the journey. Expect non-stop energy, many more songs and undying gratitude to my fans for their support. As well, thank you to music blogs like yourselves who do an honest job promoting musicians around the world.
